Did you ever end up playing this? If so, what age and how did it go?
Thanks for the fantastic idea, I often do scattegories but the students will probably appreciate the change. I whipped up a quick PPT for it, which I will attach. I plan on giving the groups 2 minutes per round.
HOLY CRAP! this game worked out surprisingly well!! all my classes loved it. all levels~~THANK YOU SO MUCH~!only down side, all the adding of the points. (i hate math haha)so i just calculated each words' point for them and then had the girls add up their score and tell me their total. i'm at an all girls high school, and i did this game with the 1st and 2nd year girls.with my 1st year girls, i let them look at their official school vocab list for a little bit (their level is a bit low)my second year girls are better, so i didn't let them look at any dictionaries.and for both 1st and 2nd year girls, if they misspelled the word, or not the right topic, then no points.i changed the format a little bit for my girlsalso in my version, for the cities in korea slide, i skipped that one because you can spelled romanized korean words so differently, and i didn't have the energy to argue~)
Thank you so much for this game idea!! I have made quite a few modifications, but this is a great no brainer game and can be played for an entire class.I base the points on word length and spelling. If the word is spelled correctly it breaks down like this.3-6 letter word: 1 point7-9 letters: 2 points>9 letters: 3 pointsThis cuts down on all the math require by the original point structure. I also applied a scatergories-esc aspect to the game as well. The first round is a free round, they may write any word they like from the six letter word's root letters. The subsequent rounds have topics. Such as all words must be foods, or jobs, or base-form verbs. You can be creative.Anyway, great game, love its simplicity, thanks.
