Daegyo (대교) Grade 4 Story Time 1- The Wizard of Oz

Here is a powerpoint I made providing the students with the story of the film, "The Wizard of Oz".  I found that it served to both give some background to the video for that lesson and make it more interesting to the students (some of which knew the story, but most of which had only heard the name 'Oz').
For me, this made doing the roleplay later in the period more fun, and it took up enough time that I could completely skip the bizarre 'World Tour' portion that was entirely in Korean.

Oh my goodness! This is a life saver! I wanted to make a PPT for this lesson, but decided to check Waygook first. Thank goodness. This is PERFECT. Thank you! You rock. 8)

My co-teacher likes to include the 한글 pronounciation for roleplay scripts - so here it is, including stage directions. I like to have the depicted characters made into tags, so the kids can easily tell who they're playing during their performance; you'll find everyone's disembodied head attached as well!

Here are some masks you can print out for the role play. I just cut them out and added a sturdy band of thick construction paper and glued it together. It's not the best masks, but it's something to use for the role play to identify who is who.

Role-play:
I made 4 flashcards of each of the four scenes from the story and posted pictures of the characters who are speaking in that particular dialogue directly underneath the picture.
The students in each team have to decide which role they will take on and present the entire story to the class. If they remember their dialogue, bonus points!
It was amusing to watch them change their voices and act out the characters!
I was impressed by those who remembered their parts as well~!

A few of my brightest students didn't know the story so I need to update on this influential film.
