Hi everyone,
Does anyone have the phrases for the speaking section of this lesson? I forgot my book and I was told today I will be covering this lesson plus lesson 4. Any help would be appreciated!

1. WS I found online using key expression: I'm interested in.
2. Introduction and practice for lesson 7. Including both Speak A and B sections. Also includes the idiom: out of the blue. Gets the kids paying attention from the beginning.
3. Mystery box game using lesson 7 key expressions:
Are you interested in _______? No, I'm interested in __________.
Can you make it ____? I'm afraid I can't. How about ____?

'numbers' doc needed for game. This game/review was done the class after the posting above
I call this game The Circle Game. I don't know what else to call it.
Out of all lessons throughout the year. This is probably the most fun. Students love it. Even the ones that are too shy or hate English, participate. The ppt illustration should explain the game pretty well, but a few things
1. Number 5 for both expressions: Have your students create their own. These are special. They mean 'everyone' changes chairs
2. Tell the students that they can't change seats/chairs to the chair next to them. Has to be at least one chair away.
3. I occasionally swap a chair in and out so that the game design changes to only one student in the middle. This means that originally, the two students in the middle are going through the dialogue, A and B, when a chair is added and there is only one student in the middle, make the whole class say B together and have the student in the middle say A. This way increases the student talk time so that it's not just 2 students speaking all the time.
Have fun

HEY!
In my ppt, I start with a word game. I don't remember where I got this off waygook, but you should be able to find all of them if you search for wordwalls in waygook. The ss have 3 minutes to create as many words as they can. I have a contest going between the classes. The class with the most words gets a pizza party at the end of the semester. Then I review the 'i'm interested in..."
I have 2 worksheets. One is a career map. The questions are are you interested in puzzles? yes or no. Then follow the line. The job/career descriptions are on the back.
The next worksheet is where the kids have to draw what they are interested in and what they are not interested in.
The second class I used bits of ppts above (thanks guys) and had a worksheet with bits from a one above and then the real-life scene with 6 mistakes for the ss to find and correct.

Hello everyone. We're doing the textbook out of order, so here are my materials. I pilfered ideas and content from other posters, and then slowed it down to stretch it over 3 lessons.
The classes all have warmers in the ppts (this chapter it's Brands, as stolen from SimonV - love that guys work).
Lesson 1 Intro to vocab and practice for "are you interested in", "no, I'm interested in" and a fun crossword and wordsearch. The word search has interesting hidden in it 7 times, and they have to look for all of them and tell me how many they can find.
Lesson 2 Play Heads Up 7 Up as a warmer.
Then the ppt, and introduction to the new key expression "It was so BLAH that I BLAH". Your KT may need to help with the grammar of this one. It has a review exploding bomb game included, that might have expressions from chapter 8&9 so just be careful. There's also an extra worksheet that I cobbled together bc I can't play games with my one class.
Lesson 3: Brands, key expression review, intro to final Key Exp: "Can you make it on/at..."/Sounds good/I'm afraid I can't. Finish it off with creating our own cartoons for all the key expressions. You need to provide them with paper. OR you can play the circle game. The ppt includes both, so just hide whichever slides you don't want to use.
cool enjoy

Over two weeks, I cover the listen and speak pages in the textbook. The first week, I do listening exercises along with a short activity. The second week, I do the Speak section and the Real-Life Scene and I usually have time for a longer activity. Both weeks are included in one PPT. I have attached the PPT and the worksheets I used. Thank you to the previous posters for their material.
I show them 3 movie trailers and get the students to fill in the movie trailer worksheet.
In the second class, the students play Pictionary, in order to guess they have to use the phrase 'I'm interested in...'
