PPT is a short introduction to the lesson. Speak A and B are also attached. I stopped relying so much on ppt. I find that it can be more fun for both my students and me, to do more interactive activities.

The .doc is something I found online dealing with plans and the expression "im planning to...."

Later, I will post another ppt game that i've been using for this lesson

warm up - or use as you want. one word one student. symbols represent an action. if a symbol is on the word, the student has to say the word and do the action at the same time. actions get more complicated as game progresses. i have students stand in a circle and go as fast as they can. can be fun. enjoy

battleship game. 2 teams.

A: "I'll help (you/her/him/(name) _________"
B: How nice of you! Thanks!
A: Don't mention it!

Have to make them write down where there ships are and give it to you. otherwise you don't know if its a hit or miss. (I've attached that WS now too)
Haven't played this with this lesson yet. but I'll probably coordinate the responses to hit or miss. (Tried the lesson. Need a good amount of time to give directions and start playing. might not be worth it, but can be fun.)

I thought about this dialogue too
A: I'll help (you/her/him/them/jiu" ___________"
B: It's okay. I can do it (hit)
or
B: How nice of you! Thanks (miss)
A: Don't mention it

This uses the target language:

- I’m planning to visit a children’s hospital.

- I’m looking forward to seeing them.

- Don’t mention it.

I use a listening exercise at the beginning which I read out to them and they fill in the blanks.
I go over the first slides with the whole class.  When I get to the slides with the blanks I choose random students to get up and say them.  This way I know they will pay attention to the intro slides.

I stretched this over two lessons and also used the text book.

Thanks for the worksheet Mirokii.

Part A – focusing on the phrases ‘What’s the matter’, and giving advice using ‘You should…’. Did some listening, wordsearch worksheet, worked though the PPT, and finally divided them into pairs to do the advice comic (adapted from a ppt from waygook from a different textbook page – can’t find the original source)

Part B – we did the code worksheet (also adapted, not my work). Then we continued with some listening, and got into the prohibition part. I introduced this by contrasting it with the command section from the previous chapter.
Finally we did the Angry Birds boardgame

Part C – finished off the listening, did some review, and played Pictionary using the target phrases.

I think you meant to post this in the the 1st grade page  :P

Posting the correct lessons this time :)

Each lesson has a warmup activity, guessing what the zoomed in picture is. Check / uncheck them depending on how many you want to get through

Part A - Go through some key vocab, do the wordsearch worksheet, and some listening. The grammar part is 'I'm plannning to...' I went through the slides on the PPT, finished up to Listen In on page 168, and played a hotseat game using the key vocab (dug up somewhere here on waygook)

Part B - review from the previous week, and work through the 'I'll help you...' offering favours part. Then there's a boardgame using this vocab - credit to whoever made the template

Part C - review, finish listening, and go through the 'I saw him ______ing' part. I used the awareness test video to help drill this - not one of my classes saw the dancing bear the first time. To finish off I used the trashball game from above.

Just found this worksheet on islcollective.  Should be useful especially since this lesson is talking about volunteer work.  This worksheet has a fill in the blank activity with a word bank and another activity where you have to put the verbs in the right verb tense.  Hope it's helpful.

I made a powerpoint about volunteer work to go with my worksheets.  I changed the language in the role play worksheet to make it easier for my students to write their own sentences.  I'll probably use this lesson the second time I teach this chapter.

Over two weeks, I cover the listen and speak pages in the textbook. The first week, I do listening exercises along with a short activity. The second week, I do the Speak section and the Real-Life Scene and I usually have time for a longer activity. Both weeks are included in one PPT. I have attached the PPT and the worksheets I used. Thank you to the previous posters for their material.

The students must try to complete the crossword, they need a few clues at the start to figure out how to write the answers. The Board game can be played one between two or one between four.
