This chapter uses won so I created won that can be used for practice.

Print the first few pages of the PPT.
Cut.
Laminate.
Attach magnets to the back.

Lesson Plan:

Motivation:
I used the won magnets I made (see post above) as part of a skit. I bought something from my coteacher. She bought something from me. Simple but the kids loved it.

Look and Listen
Listen and Do
Listen and Say

Additional practice: Used the won magnets as a drill for the numbers.
Students play the Nunchi game (stand up and yell out the numbers, 2 students can not stand up at the same time otherwise they are out).

Game: Show me the money:
I placed students in groups and called on the groups.
The whole class asks "How much is it?"
Play the animation (korean money quickly moving around). Students will then raise their hands and answer the question. May have been a little too easy but you can adjust it.

This has practise of saying about money.
There are 2 games, one taken from here and one i used from last year.
Then there is the Story time from the text book.

Hi fellow teachers.

Here is a speaking activity sheet for lesson 10, but includes vocabulary and sentences in lesson 9 as well.

This is how I will conduct it. I will introduce the speaking activity and 1st have the students listen and repeat to practice the words and sentences. Then I'll explain the speaking activity.

The activity is done as pair work. 2 Ss are given 1 sheet. The sheet has points on the top of each sentence. The 2 Ss are then to rock, paper, scissors to see who goes first for each time and every time. The S that wins, will get to pick the sentence they want to read. Once that S has read the sentence they get the points above. The point of the game is for the S to get the most points at the end of the game, while getting speaking practice. If the pairs finishes early... just print extra and have them play a 2nd round if you want.

You can feel free to edit the sentences and points to suit your class. I just assigned 1 point to each word in the sentence.

I wrote a simple, fun restaurant song to teach 'Can I please have a/some ____' but it also drills 'how much is it?' - maybe some teachers will find it helpful.

I made a PPT that you can use at the beginning of every class for this lesson (compiled and used the vocab & key expressions from the textbook cd).

I also included a "Price is right" game that the students can play. I had a cote translate it into Korean because my students are low level. The game was originally posted in the Cheonjae thread I believe...not sure. But credit goes to them!

11.04.2024 edit: I made a game for the last period (wrap up section!) The game is called trashball. You have the students form teams and go around in order. If the question is answered correctly, the students are given either 1,2, or 3 shots. They can shoot a ball into a bin those many times. For each time they get a shot into the bin, they earn a point. You can also just crumble up scrap paper and have the kids throw it into a garbage bin! Use whatever is easiest for you~

10 minute (listening and speaking):

How much guessing ppt game.

1st section: the price is listed on the ppt with three items and students guess which item it would buy.
2nd: Students are shown one item and then guess how much it would cost.
3rd: Money shows briefly on the screen and students guess how much (taken from an original).

Reading activity. 10-15 minutes.

Basically a worksheet with 3 parts:

1) Students read the dialogue boxes and write the numerical value of how much the items spoken about cost.
2) Students read the amounts and write the numerical value.
3) Students choose 3 items to buy and write the numerical value of the total cost.

1. Unlock the bank
-teacher reads sentence combination and students remember the number combination.

2. Find Psy
-Students say "It's ____ won".
-click on the money to reveal points behind.

3. Complete the table.
Each student gets 1 card and one sheet of paper.
-they have to fill in how much each item costs.
-students walk around the class and ask "how much is it?'
-the other student shows the picture card and asnwers "it's _____ won".
