This is a worksheet I made (with some sections taken from others' worksheets) used for the period 3.

Also, note that I found out that only 1 of my 3rd graders had been exposed to a word search before. Never even crossed my mind that they wouldn't know what to do, but thinking that most are learning the alphabet for the first time it does make sense.

Got a good laugh at myself for that. I still plan on having them do it so they know how to do some in the future, but just be aware that you might have to spend extra time finding a word together or explaining how to do it.

Here's a simple coin flick game using the vocabulary from the unit. Students flick the coin and read the square to mark it as theirs. Whenever time is up, the student with the most squares is the winner. Can be played in pairs or small groups.
