2014 Grade 3 Daekyo 1 - 3. Catch the Ball
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:43:19 AM »
Some materials I created or revamped.
Vocab and role play
video TPR classroom commands
catch the ball PPT review
pass the ball (matches the ppt)
Simon says video ( a set up for playing it later in the class, period two).
PPT for action verb opposites. I didn't make just someone else's, sorry I can't remember whose.

The pass the ball and the ppt are matching EXCEPT I didn't put "don't..." in the pass the ball as I wasn't sure if I was going to teach "don't..." first period or not.

I don't have the Korean translation for the role play setting directions, but if you need them I could get them.

Here's a Writing Guess Game.

Divide the students into groups.
One student from each group must come up to the board (or write on a small white board), and write the sentence he/she thinks will appear on the next slide.
The slides before each answer slide provide all the key sentences the students can choose from, and use as a reference for spelling and grammar.
Group with the most correct guesses, wins.

I'm pretty sure you could play this song for 40 minutes and the kids would never get tired of it ;). They were begging to sing this song instead of the period 2 chant.

Here is a powerpoint I made for the Grade 3 lesson.  It has a partner touch and go game at the end.  You print it out (one between two).  Each student reads from each end as fast as they can.  When they meet they do rock, scissors, paper.  The winner continues reading and the loser has to start from the start point. again.  The winning students reaches the other end first.

Rocks, Paper, Scissors Review Board Game

One students starts on the right and the other starts on the left. Each student says the vocabulary word/phrase as fast as they can and continues around the board. When the students meet on the same square, they do RPS. The winner continues from their current box. The loser starts over again. To win the game, they must reach the other end of the board. If you want the game to go longer, you can consider each win a point.

Vocabulary practiced: jump, catch the ball, close the door, open the door, stand up, sit down, ham, ink, lemon, jam, egg, kiwi, jump rope, fork

EDIT: Aaaaand I just realized the person above me did the exact same thing. Take your pick.

This was a lot of fun and my kids LOVED it:

Basically when the music is playing all students dance around. Then click to the next slide and the music will stop. When it stops they must find a partner, play RPS then the winner gets to command the loser (who is now a robot) what to do of the key expressions. I let them do this for about 30 seconds before moving on to play the music again. I made my kids switch and find a different partner each time.

I got the idea and template from a different thread (thank you Rystheguy!). I changed some things up to fit the chapter better and added GIFs.

Enjoy!

Here's a 4 page packet I put together for review. It includes matching, word scramble, word search, and decode the message.

Happy teaching!

Here is an activity for the READ ABC section where students have to guess letter I, J, K or L. When students see slide I make the sound of the letter and the students guess what letter. Students then say the letter, the sound, and the word.

This will be my first time posting anything and it's just a fixed up a Super Mario bomb game I got from here.
I know it's not perfect but  :undecided:

The game I had downloaded had many broken hyperlinks and were cross linked so I just fixed it up a bit.
Hope it helps.

I plan to use this video to help students distinguish between open and close.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_VcSQn73do

And for "stand up" versus "sit down," we're going to sing "up, down" to the tune of EXID's 위아래 (we-arae). Up, down, up, up, down, etc.

Here's a video if you don't know the song. Please don't show your students...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfXZ6ydgZyo

And finally, I've attached a modified version of travelinpantsgirl's intro PPT. I removed all of the extra phrases that do not appear in the book (except for open/close your book) because my students can't handle it. I've also added a few Four Corners slides. To play, the teacher closes their eyes and students walk to one of the corners of the room. The teacher says an expression, and all the students in that corner are out. Play until only a few remain.

Good activity for review. Place the six flashcards on 6 separate desks around the room with one student at each station. The objective of the game is to gain a signature from each station by completing the command and winning RSP. The person at each station should rotate to give everyone a chance.

Minecraft review bomb game (v2) based on vocab, I'd do this a few lessons in personally as it covers most of the chapter's phrases.

Uses some of the Totoro stuff posted on here, but the game works without using the other resources.
