"Teacher what are you doing ? "...

while looking at my phone.

If ever was the phrase 'nothing to do with you' relevant then this is the case.

You only live today once. You wont get a second chance. You wont get to live it twice. So make the most of it.

Is it really necessary to go online to vent about something so ridiculously trivial?

As petty and stupid as some of the stuff I see on this site is this is really the first time I've felt the need to remind someone that this isn't facebook or twitter.

My thoughts exactly.
It's a student, they are curious about teachers, specially foreign ones. Also if the kid said it in English, it's just practicing.

You don't need to submit court evidence. Just tell him you researching about greatness of Korea's Dokdo and Hangul and he will think you are a cool guy instead of an arrogant shady foreign teacher.

Why does it matter? Does say the obvious. People here are all curious about foreigners. No need to be a jerk about it.

Lol, this guy.. :undecided:

I feel so bad for your students.

Then again, maybe he's just "trolling" us all, because he's bored on a Friday.

That could be said for a few others IMO

Have people always bashed people this much on this site?

I don't remember it being so.... but maybe I'm just awake to it.

Yeah, it's sad because just a few years ago, this site was filled with contrary people with weird points of view (just like it is now ) who were still able to present their arguments and have passionate discussions without immediately resorting to name calling and culture bashing.
I miss the juxtaposition of well researched, eloquently written drivel.

This site has been nerfed for the sensitivity of those reading it.  I guess when u live in a mentally weak country that can't take comments against it's view, you tone it down.  No babe u aren't fat, that dress is tight.

Example:  Korean:  Why do Waygooks think driving is so bad in Korea?
Fact:     Korea is in the top 10 crash per car and 10 pedestrian deaths in the world.

Keep telling yourself it's okay.  Let's see how it plays out.
It's -ev to deal with some people.

And with that post, I think OP pretty much just got exactly what they were after.

Really, if it turns out that this was some sort of social experiment and this was one of the presumed outcomes, then I gotta give it props, because that's good stuff.

This would be pathetically small potatoes for a troll topic. The equivalent of shoplifting a single piece of gum or something. No troll wants to see a bunch of people walk into his topic and say "we all think this is a stupid waste of time, right? oh! we actually do all agree on this...wow"

God, what a bunch of weird reactions!

Why have a Korean expat community if having the slightest complaint, no matter how specious, is treated as if you'd set fire to a pile of kimchi and then covered the pile with the Imperial flag of Japan?

Yes, the OP said something a bit silly. What they didn't say was:

"My kids are little shits."
"I hate my students."
"korea sucks."

...or anything similar.

You've never had a kid hell-bent on looking at your phone, computer screen , in your bag? You've never had a bad day and overreacted to a minor annoyance? What a bunch of magnificent saints you all must be.

Also, OP, chill.
NOTORIOUS D.G.P.

first and foremost, i am going to tell you my tone is playful. ^.^ of course, if you didnt know my tone, it could make for some interesting response from you. haha.

you dont like korea? you dont like students? you dont your kids?  you have something against japan and kimchi? awww come on! chill out too.

this post seems to be a common occurrence for some of us. but i would have to say, out of the 'stupid topics', this one has taken the cake, for the week.

and yes. i am a saint. so thhhpppptttt  :P

While I do think that this particular thread is ridiculous, from start to finish, I have been thinking the same thing. The time I've spent on here has dropped drastically throughout the past month or so because posters seem to have become more defensive, rude, bitter, and angry as of late.

I'm curious where in this thread you came up with the idea someone was offended on behalf of Korea. The only post I see that even directly mentions Korea for any reason is insulting Koreans.

Edit: and sejong's sarcastic post about the awesomeness of Dokdo.
