Last One Standing - Music Game
« on: May 07, 2014, 02:57:29 pm »
A while back I played this game with my 6th graders and they really enjoyed it, so I finally got around to making one of my own.

This is the original game I used http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,63343.0.html, thank you so much! My kids had a blast.

The game I made has 28 songs, and the game lasts for about 40 minutes. I didn't use it for the full 40 minutes, but I wanted to be safe.

I tried to keep the songs upbeat  but my music library is a little limited. Feel free to change the songs, words, etc as you please.

Please download all folders and combine the folders into one.

I hope you and your students enjoy it!

The songs I used for this game are:
1. Viva La Vida
2. Rocketeer
3. Starlight
4. Don't Worry Be Happy
5. Wild Thing
6 Blowin' In the Wind
7. Love is a Battlefield
8. What Dreams Are Made Of
9. Dance With Somebody
10. We're Young and Beautiful
11. My Girl
12. Sweet Home Alabama
13. Pure Imagination (Maroon 5 version)
14. Life is a Highway
15. All I want Is You
16. She's Fantastic
17. Funny Little Frog
18. Pictures of You
19. Isn't She Lovely
20. Talking to the Moon
21. Molly Smiles
22. I Gotta Feeling
23. That's Amore
24. Blue Suede Shoes
25. Crazy
26. Walking on Sunshine
27. Speed of Sound
28. Just The Way You Are

This game sounds (no pun) very good. I think my fifth and sixth grade students will like it. However, I can't get the sounds to work. I have the PPT and music files in the same folder on my PC.

Is there anything I need to change with PPT?

Thanks

Sorted!

Thank you so much. I haven't been able to make one of these myself yet but my students really enjoy this game.  It's an awesome game for camp.

This is really great!  I'll do two songs as the starter each day in my 5-6 grade camp.  Thanks!

This game is amazing and my kids love it. They asked to play it again next week after the lesson. Best part is that there  are enough songs that I can get at least 3 more uses out of this since I divi' up my class in 15-20 min lessons and 30-25 min games.

It was amazing how much they got into it. especially since the teams only have 5-6 kids and there were 10 words to choose from.

One student knew all the words to "My Girl" and was bouncing off the walls and telling her teammates which word was last. LOL.

Awesome game!

Hey,

I am actually having the same problem.  I downloaded 3 zip folders and then copy and pasted the mp3's from folder 2 and folder 3 into folder 1 where the PPT is located.  Some of the songs play when I click the play button but not all of them.

Am I doing something wrong?  Do I need to highlight the songs and the PPT before opening the game?

Help please

Same problem. I unzipped them all into the same folder and some of the songs work while others don't work at all.... Any suggestions??

I am so sorry for the incredibly late reply. So I suppose this is for future users.

I'm not really sure why this is happening, and I'm not all that tech savvy but perhaps the problem is that we are using different PowerPoint versions.

The best solution I can think of is too re-add the song to the slide and link it to the trigger (the orange play button on the slide).

I attempted many 'workarounds' to make this ppt work.  I know it would be a great game if I could get the other songs to play but for some reason, no matter where I work on the PPT, it just won't play those songs.  I have tried deleting them and re-adding them to the icon but to no avail.  I think it is related to the older vs. newer versions of Microsoft PPT as well.

If anyone finds a solution, I'd love to hear how you made it work.

Just wanted to let you know that I had the same issue, then I deleted the zip files and tried again and it worked. So if you have the zip files in the same folder, you should delete them and give it a try.

Thank you for the tip!

I'm not sure if it's the version of powerpoint I'm using but I was having an issue with the m4a songs not playing back. (Rocketeer, Talking to the moon, Pictures of you, etc.)   So I converted all the files to mp3 and linked them to the slides in the powerpoint. Just add all the songs into the folder and replace the old ppt with the new one.

Thanks for this post by the way! Great share!
