I kinda got away from this site since we started using this textbook because there wasn't much up here in the beginning.  I wish I stuck with it now that I've come back.  You have all posted some amazing material!

I have a minor contribution to this lesson, since I already have it made.  While your  games seem much more fun, my co-teacher likes to stick to the book since the given materials are already so much better than the last textbook.  We slightly modified the "Talk and Play" spinner game to make it a partner game.  Also, we added different points to each answer for "Do you like __?" It shows it in the ppt.

Thanks everyone for sharing all of your hardwork!

Here is an activity for the Sounds and Letters section where students have to guess letter p or b. When students see slide I make the sound of the letter and the students guess what letter. Students then say the letter, the sound, and the word.

Here's a Pass the Ball Game using "I like.." and "I don't like.." (edited from someone else's 4th grade food ppt)
I also added to an old Trick Food ppt (cakes/cookies etc that look like other things!).

Hope they are useful to someone and cheers to the original creators!

Thanks to the original creator of this Baskin Robbins game. Working with a partner, first student reads 1, 2, or 3 squares. Person whose turn it is on 31 loses. The ice cream cones at the bottom are to record their victories. First to three wins gets a reward.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kimchi elimination game. All students stand. First one reads the first word, next student the second word, and so on. After the last word on the slide is read the following student says "kimchi" then the student after has to sit and is out. Last student standing wins.

For the "b" and "p" section in period 3 and 4, I'm going to give them a little listening test.
Test paper attached.
I'll read off ten words like: boy, pencil, book, pizza, big, pig, pasta, black etc...and they have to circle if they're hearing b or p.

I made a powerpoint to go along with travelinpantsgirls' spy game to help explain it. My 3rd graders tend to zone out unless there's some pictures to keep their attention. Just for my own fun I made it Daria themed.

You will need the font Grobold: http://www.dafont.com/grobold.font

I also used the Avengers font for the first slide (Or you can just change these fonts to something that looks better, of course)

Spy card game. I put how to play in it but you can modify it or make up your own rules.

I put it in PDF so you don't lose the font.

but if you download the Avengers font you can edit the PPT.

The last two pages/slides are the back of the cards. You can print this double sided (양면 in Korean) and they will match up and be easy to coat/laminate.

Here's a PPT to practice reading the six target words.  ...  This was my attempt to help (my very low level) students who have never read before make their first steps with these arguably difficult words. Hope it helps.

amores, I know you're not still teaching in Korea, but I'm sending a huge thank you anyway, wherever you are.  Most of my students don't go to hagwon, so I'll be teaching them to read, and this definitely helped!  Lightbulbs went off, it was beautiful.

A couple of additions:

- 4 corners game, basically a running-around-and-speaking version of Telepathy.  The icon in the center of the slides indicates whether students should say "I like ___", "I don't like ___", or "Do you like ___?"  Despite the bombs, I usually don't eliminate anyone.  I just give out tokens to the students who survive each round, so that everyone gets plenty of practice.  We count the points at the end.  Thanks to janet1992 for the template (http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=95625.0).

- Printable 2-up slide with lyrics for "Do You Like Spaghetti Yogurt?"  Broccoli Ice Cream is always such a hit that my students have no trouble learning it in one period, and some already know it.  So I introduced the second song, plus the concept of lyrics, in period 3 / reading.  We didn't try to read along line by line, just looked for words like "cookies", "spaghetti", and "like" on the page - and students were excited to realize they could find them.  Again, credit to amores' PPT for this, I think.
Missing a font for my materials?  Try these:
- Handfish Suite by Paul (http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=9060.0)
- Century Gothic, Segoe Print, & Berlin Sans FB (print-style sans serif, packaged with MS Office)

Re: 2014 Grade 3 Daekyo 1 - 7. I Like Chicken "Two Truths and a Lie"
« Reply #29 on: September 09, 2016, 10:47:41 AM »
Two truths and a lie:
Materials:
Sticky note for every student. Pen for every student. PPT with pictures as reminders.
Objective:
Allows students to practice writing, reading and speaking.
Activity:

Every student writes down two truths and one lie on a sticky note with their name on it.
They place the sticky notes on the walls around the room.
All students stand and walk around reading the notes out loud to themselves. They put a tally mark next to the sentence they believe is a lie.
When everyone has voted the students collect their sticky note back and read their three sentences aloud to the class. The class then asks "Do you like...?" until they find out which sentence is the lie.
