Grade 4 Lessons 1-7 Review Lesson
« Reply #1 on: June 27, 2014, 12:01:08 PM »
Sorry this is posted twice (once here and once in lesson 7)!

This is what I did for my review lesson:

1 - I assign pairs of students a number of 1-7 (the lessons being covered) and then each team has to practice the talk together section of that lesson for 5 minutes. So team one does lesson 1 - page 13. Team two page 23 and etc (pg. 33, 43, 53, 63, 73) Then each group gets up and does their little skit.  This took about 15 minutes total.

2- Then I used a Kyle Ludeke Doraemon PPT for my game. I made it so the kids have to interact with most slides (e.g. draw/write on the board, charades, speed spelling with another team, make a sentence, listening to sentences and acting them out, etc).  The kids really got into it! Let me know if you have any questions about the slides.

Enjoy!

This is modified version of the 1-7 PPT above for 4-6, so I added some slides, removed others.

My school teaches 3 lessons then review. So this covers 4,5,6.

Co-T asked me to make a simple ppt to cover the basics from lessons 1 - 6.  Not much fun, but it does its job.  We used this over two weeks, so that's why I have them do writing for chapters 1 - 3 first, and then for 4 - 6 later.

Review Survey Bingo! First students answer their questions on the picture side, and then they ask their friends questions to fill in the bingo board. I got students to call out the sentences to stretch the game a little longer. This activity can stretch to a full 40 minutes if your students are extra slow  If you control the activity a little more (i.e: limit the time that they survey the other students or call the sentences yourself) you can limit it to around 20-25 minutes.

Sleeping elephants as requested by my 4th graders.
For our last class we are having a party (tomorrow) and I asked my students did they want a pass the ball game or a sleeping elephants. While it wasn't unanimous, there was a clear majority in both classes...so they get sleeping elephants. The answers cover each chapter.

thank you to whoever made the template! It rocks!

It's finals season...here is my Jeopardy Review Game that reviews lessons 2-6.

My final exam doesn't include Lesson 7 so I threw in a name that tune Kpop category. I just played songs on my phone and see if they can guess.

Tech:
After the money comes up, scroll down once to see the categories. Then, click the last slide to bring up selection. After picking a question, click the blue circle to see the answer. The click on the answer itself to go back to selection.
I didn't bother with the groups scoring since I always have more than 3 groups.

Enjoy!

Here is a simple review PPT for lessons 1-7. It includes a review of key sentences from each lesson along with some practice.

I will use this as a warm up before playing a review game just to jog their memories.

Thank you to everyone who I stole stuff from to make this.

Hope it's useful.

ADDED: Another sleeping elephants review for my lower level students, including hints on screen during the writing section. It worked really well in my class (which I can't always say about my 4th grade) so hope it's good for you too. Warning - it's really long so you probably won't get through all of it.

Grade 4 Cheonjae 1 - Review 2
« Reply #13 on: August 31, 2015, 05:20:19 PM »
Hello all!
So last week, I did a review class for all my grades 3-6. The kids really enjoyed this activity I made for them. It's a mix of a bomb game and the ever-so-popular "pop-up pirates" game.

I first started the class doing a quick review of the first 7 chapters, we've studied. Took about 10-15 minutes. Then, started the PPT for the game.

Rules are simple. Students are placed into teams. Teams take turn picking a letter, and answer the questions. If they answer correctly, the get a chance to win the swords. Once they win the swords they can place it anywhere in the barrel. (Note: To make it fun, tell them to do it quickly and not take their time. Other kids get angry if they are taking their time and looking through the holes in the barrel to find the trigger.) If the pirate pops up, the team gets a prize (candy or stickers), then it resets and the game continues on. There might be multiple groups that win so make sure you have enough prizes.

Purchasing the game is required. I already had the game in hand, so it was just a matter of bringing it into class. It's about $10 USD. I used it for the review, and now some kids like to come and play the game with me during breaks. I will also use it for other lessons and other grades. It's just a matter of changing the questions and answers.

Kids enjoyed, I enjoyed. My CT enjoyed. It was just a fun game. I hope you enjoy too.
