this has been an ongoing problem, though I've just discovered that I can for some reason attach files to the general discussion section????
I've spent far too much time on this site trying to do this.  Should I just give up?  Advice please.

You could also try some of the worksheets that are available on this website.  Sometimes it can be very helpful and I found that it gave me a lot of options for this lesson.  http://www.superteacherworksheets.com/time.html I would suggest time bingo, draw clock hands, telling time worksheet (minutes to), or time worksheet (quarter hour).  This last one gives activities that someone does during the day but it's written out like half past five.  The students then have to write it in the standard form of 5:15.  You could even glue have a clock worksheet where they have to draw the times on the clock that matches each word problem.  Enjoy!

Also here are some worksheets that I just pulled together off of enchantedlearning.c om since the membership costs money.  It has worksheets for a clock cut out, daily activities (3), clock arithmetic (3), and matching the time: digital to analogue to English (4).  Hopefully this will help fill some time also.

Here's also a board game that I just made.  It's in color so if you print it in black and white, change the color to black so the words show up.  Enjoy!

My kids loved the Battleship game. Here's a modified PPT from before plus a step by step intro on how to play the battleship game.

Role play practice I made. First I had everyone listen and repeat. Cover some of the words and read it as a class. Cover more words and read it as a class again. Cover all of the words and ask for a volunteer to read it.

The Earlier/Later Time game (or call it Before/After or something else you think appropriate)

This is a variation on that Price Is Right "Higher/Lower" game.  In that game, there is a price for an item that you must find.  Say the item is a new TV for $1000.  You start out saying $800, then the host says "Higher" so you say $1200 and the host says "lower."  Then you keep going until you get the right price or until time runs out.

On this variation, you're teaching time, so just have a time for them to guess.  Like "I wake up at ___ [7:40]."  The student guesses 7:00 and you say "Later" [or "After"], they guess 8:00 and you say "Earlier" [or "Before"].  Keep going until they guess it or until time runs out.

You can set the time according to your class.  Some students may be able to handle 30 seconds, others may need 1 minute.  Just demonstrate it first and it should be fine.

Thanks for all the great materials.  This may sound silly, but I renamed the battleship game "castles and catapults".  The reason for this is that it may not be the best time in Korea to play a game about sinking ships.  People in my area at least are still very sensitive about the recent S Korean ship sinking by N Korea.  Sorry, not trying to be a stick in the mud, thanks again.

quick request to whomever made the battleship/castles and catapults instructional powerpoint:

could you change the boats/castles setup so that there are 3x5 and 2x3?  right now there are some boats/castles with four segments, which i think might confuse the kids during explanation.  please update and repost if you can!  :)

thanks!

Hi --

I was wondering if there were any videos out there along the same lines as this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YxPkDCnZPI

I am doing my open class tomorrow on this lesson, and my co-teacher wants to show a video of a daily schedule. However, we've already shown this particular video in class, and I don't have the capability of making my own.

Thank you.

Here are my 'lesson plans' / materials for this unit. Sorry the lesson plans aren't in a very good format, my school is happy for me to just have them as notes for myself.

Sorry for any duplication of materials borrowed from other people on waygook, and thanks for originally posting them!
