Class #1 - Ordering at a Restaurant

• Introduce new restaurant vocabulary using Intro Vocab PPT. Discuss as a class.
• Make a menu using the Make A Menu PPT template. Ss fill out food items and their prices.
• Divide students into pairs and give them a copy of the Role Play Dialogue. Students prepare a role play presentation using the menus they've made.
• Play the Food Loop Game

Food Loop Game

• Teacher prints out the pages of the Food Loop Game PPT. PRINT OUT 6 TO A PAGE TO MAKE SMALL CARDS.
• Give Each student a card, and choose one student to go first (or the teacher goes first for the first round)
• The student reads the card, "Here's your banana. Enjoy your meal. I would like the apple."
• The student with the apple card stands and then reads his card "Here's your apple. Enjoy your meal. I would like the bread." Next the student with the bread card stands and reads.
• Continue on until every student has had a chance to read his or her card.
• Time the class on how long it takes for every student to read.
• Class plays against itself trying to make their time faster and faster with each round.

Note:

• For this game, you need to know exactly how many students you have. (You must have either the same number of cards or more than the number of students. If you have less it gets awkward.)
• If it turns out you have too many cards just take out however many extra cards you have (IN ORDER) and read them yourself, just reading the first and last sentence of those series of cards, so you can play seamlessly with the students.

Class #3 - Buying Tickets at the Movie Theater

• Review vocabulary learned in the last lesson
• Introduce new movie theater vocabulary using Intro Vocab PPT. Discuss as a class.
• Create a movie times listing using the Movie Times Template PPT. Instructions included in the Intro Vocab PPT.
• Divide students into pairs and give them a copy of the Role Play Dialogue. Students prepare a role play presentation using the movie listing they've made.
• Play Blockbuster as a class

Blockbuster Game

• This game is a popular Waygook PPT game, so I wont go into detail. You can find the instructions on the PPT template page.
• Divide Ss into two teams. Each team tries to make a line across the board by answering questions.

Note:

• Have Ss play rock, paper, scissors to decide which team will answer the next question. Otherwise, you end up with a stalemate every time.
• I only played one round so on this PPT there's a second page with a bunch of random stuff. Feel free to change if you want to do two rounds.

Class #5 - Getting a Check Up at the Doctor's Office/Hospital

• Review vocabulary learned in the last lesson.
• Introduce new hospital vocabulary using Intro Vocab PPT. Discuss as a class.
• Pretend to be a doctor and create a "medical report" using the Medical Report PPT. Instructions included in the Intro Vocab PPT (in Korean).
• Divide students into pairs and give them a copy of the Role Play Dialogue. Students prepare a role play presentation using the medical report they've made.
• Play Medical Four Corners Telepathy

• First discuss each picture on the PPT page using "What's wrong?" and "I have a (...)."
• Students go to the corner they think will win.
• Teacher removes each slide one by one, last students standing earn a point they should remember on their own.

Class #6 - Sending a Postcard at the Post Office

• Review vocabulary learned in the last lesson
• Introduce new post office vocabulary using Intro Vocab PPT. Discuss as a class.
• Create a postcard using the Postcard Template PPT. Instructions included in the Intro Vocab PPT (in Korean).
• Divide students into pairs and give them a copy of the Role Play Dialogue. Students prepare a role play presentation using the postcard they've made.
• Watch a video.

Note:

• If you can, print out the postcard template on card stock to give it a realistic feel! The kids loved writing little letters to their friends in other classes!
• This was my last time with the kids, so I took it easy and showed them an Adventure Time episode with Korean subtitles. You can find every episode with Korean subtitles here: http://blog.naver.com/ryu_wol__
• Before I showed the video, I wanted to "send" each one of my kids a "letter" so I bought a bunch of colorful envelopes, put a few pieces of candy in each and wrote their names on the front as if it were a real letter being sent. Just a thought~!

The restaurant class ended up taking me four or so lessons, so I made a bomb game with the vocabulary (minus Kitchen) as a review.

The froot loop game is great. The kids think they will hate the game, but as soon as they start playing it they love it. I only have about 15 kids, so I just doubled up the cards on my higher levels.

These are amazing, by the way, they are the basis for my whole after school class this year. I'll post any additional materials I make for these.

I just wanted to bump this thread. It's great stuff and I'll be using it over the next few weeks for my after school classes.
