High School - Hobbies
« on: April 12, 2011, 07:34:48 pm »
This is a lesson plan on hobbies and fun activities.  I used the PPT to go over some hobbies and the equipment used for hobbies.  Then I had the students work in pairs and practice conversing.  They talked about their hobbies and asked each other a few questions.  During the last part of class, the students showed their discussion in front of the class.

sounds like an awesome lesson! I was also thinking you could have them do charades in groups for their hobbies if you need something to fill more time!

I can't see your lesson plan... haven't made the necessary posts yet... but here are some hobby worksheets I found online...  and some interview questions I used with my advanced classes and the template I had them use to share what they found out about their classmate. The last worksheet I used with my lower level classes and had them make their own Bingo sheet.

Here are more worksheets I used if anyone is interested.
- The first page is just a sentence I had my lower levels read aloud... sometimes it's a challenge to just have them do this. I paired it with a few slides reviewing hobbies and the worksheet with extreme sports on it (from my previous post).
- Second page was used with my intermediate classes. In a previous lesson I had them review frequency adverbs so that first part is a little more practice followed by an interview. I had them ask their classmates these 4 questions then fill out the template so that they could say it aloud.
- The third page I used paired with the "What do you think?" worksheet in the previous post. This was for my advanced classes. We had a controlled debate using what they wrote... so basically we had Pros vs. Cons of the topics and had them read their reasons just so they can practice expressing their opinions a bit.
- The fourth page was used for a lower level that is more of an intermediate so I just cut out the frequency adverb practice.
