Last One Standing Cristmas Special Music Lyrics Game!

Hey!

With Christmas coming up, I decided to edit one of the old last one standing games into a Christmas special!

Check out the screenshots to see if you fancy it or not!

It's full of my favorite Christmas songs and jazzed up a little bit. Hope your students love it and it kills some class time for you too!

*Make sure to keep every song file in the same folder!
*Old versions of PPT - the song might take 5 seconds to load after pressing play!
*New versions of PPT - the lyrics may not get highlighted until a few seconds later due to the above problem!
*Don't change any of the file names.

unfortunately I'm using a new version of office which limits the delay to 60 seconds.  so I can correct the 5 second delay on any slide over 1 minute.

Unless someone knows a work-around?

You need software like winrar, winzip or 7-zip to open them. I think they give you free trial periods. Good luck!

Just use www.extract.me. It'll turn your .rar into a .zip you can download, and then you're good from there!

Hey! These games seem super popular on this site so I assume they go down great with the students.

But the concept sounds a little boring to me... So as I understand it, all the kids are just standing there all lesson until they hear their word in the song? Is there something I'm missing? Sorry to sound like a douche..

Have people played this? What's the reception like generally?

I've played the original non-Christmas version (in middle school) as a little time filler. The kids usually end up begging for more, but I limit it to 2 songs per class because I do think it would become boring, as you said. They seem to like the anticipation of it, though! (Especially since the last one standing wins a piece of candy.)

Again, I think the key is to play just a couple rounds at the beginning or end of class. I definitely wouldn't play through the entire thing in one go.

One way I've been playing it, too (and I think this works especially if the students don't know the song), is to show the students the words they'll pick from (~5 seconds, so they can't write them down or memorize them all), let them listen through the song until all the words have come out, and then show them the list again, letting each team choose their word, first-come-first-served. This way they don't feel like they're guessing randomly. High level students can't always dominate, either, because they can't remember all the words (just enough to make sure they're not out in the very beginning)! You could also cut the song short before the last 2/3 or so words come out in the song, so anyone listening carefully has to guess between those couple words.

Open the animations pane and physically drag the green squares to the correct time! I hope that helped.
