Fun/Funny, Scared/Scary, Bored/Boring
« on: April 14, 2011, 11:30:13 AM »
I'm always hearing how if you change a lesson or ppt, you should repost it.  So that's what I'm doing.  I borrowed this ppt from another poster and changed it to suit my situation.  I also attached the lesson plan, and the worksheet I made.  I hope it helps someone else.

I used this materials with my elementary students, smart ones. Since I'd been told misuse of funny/fun and bored/boring, I thought it would be really helpful. And it was. Thanks~ !

this one went really well, especially the game they loved it but you'll need to put the videos (in the zip file) in the same folder as the ppt.

I didnt do the game at the end of the first ppt, instead i did the simpsons game.

i had to give them incentive to finish the worksheet, so the first 3 or 4 people to finish it got points.

Great ppt. Asking them what 재미 means is always a good place to start. It's a classic example of a word that encapsulates more in one language than another. They'll answer 'fun / funny / exciting / interesting / whatever' and they're all right, but in English these are all distinct concepts.

mrsamandab, what a legend lesson! Thanks! So great. I'm sure every single NET has had to deal with this. This is a nice and entertaining way to explain this and I'm sure at least some of them will understand and remember too. Thank you for sharing this. :D

S.Lee, thank you for the revision.  tried to open the Simpson's game, but all I got were crazing configurations of numbers and symbols in the powerpoint.. Anyone else have this problem?  Thanks :)

Yup. That's all I got too. I also got an error message stating that the outline was too long.

Great lesson plan. Exactly in the manner I usually conduct my lessons.

Just a small error with the Korean translations:

무서운 is more of 'scary', not really 'scared'. A think a more accurate translation would be 무서워하다. This means to 'be scared'. This especially became apparent when kids had a difficult time distinguishing the two.

I switched them, so now:

무서워하다 - scared
무서운 - scary

I found a working copy of the Simpsons game in another thread; it seems to be the one that S.Lee was trying to attach.

Could you please post the link? This worked for me originally but when I went back and tried again I just get an error message...something about temporary internet files???  Thanks so much!
