6.4.3 "Prison Break" or "5 Corners" game

Instructions in PPT, but basically Ss go to each corner and do an activity from the book. Play RPS with the Corner Leader and if you win you can move on. Go around 3x and you win. If you lose at Corner 1, you have to go to jail. Your teammate can free you from jail when they win Corner 5.

Takes a long time!

I found the worksheet online, but I made the PowerPoint. I did a warm-up and drill to practice the months and spelling first. The main focus of the lesson is for students to understand the song "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder and recognize vocabulary within the song. My 6th graders were singing along by the end of class.

I made two writing activities for this chapter. Good luck!
1. Kakao chat conversation fill-in- The last slide is the print-out.
2. Celebrity Birthday Telepathy- (I used a template that I found on waygook and reformatted it for this chapter. Thanks to the original creator!) I find it easier to just have them write on the back of the first worksheet.

My folder for this lesson so far. Contains:
- an intro ppt (credit to orignial creator. I simply added some kpop idols' birthdays as well as updated the pictures used in the dialogue section).

- birthday bingo game ppt and bingo cards. I saw this idea floating a lot around waygook so I just decided to make an instructions ppt

- lining up in order according to birthday activity+ pass the ball. Ignore the second slide please~ For the birthday ordering activity have the whole class stand up and ask each other their birthdays using the key expressions. They then have to put themselves in order. You can time them to see how long it takes and have them compete with other classes or do it just for fun. With these kinds of activities I tend to check the answers at the end by going down one by one to ask for their birthdays. In case there is some leftover time, the second half of the ppt is a pass the ball game with some random holidays/days for students to practice saying dates. The dancing GIF idea came from another user who thought to upgrade the regular old pass the ball template so thanks to that user for the inspiration!

- a ppt that talks about strange holidays around the world (credit to original creator, I have not changed anything from this ppt, uploading as is). - Ninja battle game (instructions on ppt) I personally don't use these kinds of games with 6th grade because they can't handle partner games like this, but if anyone else likes these here it is(credit to original creator).

- Period 3 PPT added. Meant to be used in the beginning of class. Have students stand up and guess what date the holiday/event/birthday falls on. Make sure to change the birthday slide to your own birthday.

- Added a speaking game about swapping dates that I found from my last EPIK teacher. Credit to the owner!

- Review PPT for Period 6. First part consists of naming the months (out of order). Second part is a unscramble the months activity (only 6 months but you can add more if you like). The last part is a find the mistakes section. Students figure out the mistakes in the sentences I give them. I usually just have them do it as a class and verbally tell me what's wrong, but you can have student's individually write down their answers as well.
