I've already finished chapter seven and the reviews, so I'm going through the chapters one by one to review them. My classes mostly consist of writing key expressions and words for 10 minutes at the start, reviewing the vocab PPTs for 5-10 minutes and then playing a game.

I edited this Star Wars bomb game (thanks to the creator, all of my classes have gone crazy over this!) so that the teams will choose a letter and then see a picture of a person. All they have to do is describe the person, e.g. hair length, type and colour, as well as eye colour and sometimes the size of their facial features. Super basic but it helps them practise. My sixth grade class today loved this game!

The only thing is that some of the options are difficult to explain (i.e. the telepathy number and the clicking side), but once your kids understand these it'll be grand

Activity for Period 1

I picked this up from a teacher during a training workshop years ago so thought I would share. Give each student a blank piece of paper. I usually have them draw a big circle that covers the entire paper. They must listen to the dialogue (What does she look like?, She has long curly hair, She has a big nose, etc.) between the co-teacher and me. I reveal to them afterwards that they must do this while having the paper placed on their heads (some students used a textbook to make it somewhat easier to draw). All my classes got a kick out of it and couldn't stop laughing when they saw their creation.

I used this for period 1 too and the students loved it!  Hilarious and good listening practice.

Also a song from English Tree TV about describing people.  Love their stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zCNjzTEOeI

Elimination Game. Please check PPT for further instructions! Basically this is like knockout. Have students pick a person from the slide, make a sentence about their appearance, and whichever student has that card is out. Winner is last person standing:)

Chase the Vocab (8 rounds)

Pass the ball (have students look at pics and describe what they see).

Speak and Read for Period 3 (Making sentences and guessing kpop idols and tay swift). Can also be used as motivation at the beginning of any period.

Pokeidols telepathy game

Period 5 PPT. For time's sake we did not do the write and share during period 4, so I decided to incorporate it into period 5 by turning it into a class activity. Students pass the ball around and the student with the ball when the music stops has to fill in the blanks for a sentence. Once we finish, I have the class read the whole paragraph together. The end of the ppt also includes a ppt that explains how to play the game in the book. There's a doc with the sentences you can print and tape around the room. I only chose 4 out of the 6.

I was worried as my kids can get bored easily/unmanageable but they loved this 'blind drawing' activity as well. For my students, they are very low level so I made a powerpoint to go with it. I had them fold the paper in half though (to save paper) and do a drawing on each half. The beginning (review of words/extras) I added last minute so not so pretty... sorry.

Complete lesson including lesson plan
Grade 6 Cheonjae 2 - What does he look like? 1 of 2

I've been using the fabulous resources on waygook all year.  I've also been writing lesson plans all year to give to my co-teachers.  So I'm basically just going to upload all my lessons in their entirety for anyone else to use.  I'm sorry, I haven't sourced all the games and slides that I have used.  Some of them I've made myself, of course.  A million thanks to all users who must have spent hours putting together PPT bomb games etc.

Some of my lessons have been hugely successful, others much less so.  Hey, we're working with kids - second-guessing them is a mine field, right?!  They seem particularly to enjoy games with cards or dice.  Running dictations and Sleeping Elephants always go down well.

I taught two classes per lesson so my posts will be labelled (lesson title) 1 of 2 and (lesson title) 2 of 2.  I haven't edited anything since I used it.  Some of my lessons were over-planned ie there was too much for one class, so they have been carried over to subsequent classes.  Generally things should be pretty clear.  Feel free to PM me if you need any help with anything - but I will only be on waygook until 18 September 2024 when my subscription expires.
