My fiance has a credit card that allows him free access to the VIP lounge at the airport and he is trying to convince me to sign up for one, as well. You have to spend a min of 1,000,000won ($1,000) on the card and get about four free uses of the lounge. Then, we could cancel it theoretically as soon as we we used up our passes.

My fiance wants me to sign up because we're going on our honeymoon soon and have a few other long flights planned over the year.

My question is: is it worth it? In my view, regardless of how pretty the chairs are, you still have to wait for your plane. Also, I'm wary of getting credit cards under my name. But my fiance thinks that the comfort and free food/drinks are absolutely worth it.

It depends on you, your flight times, what carrier you will be flying, and your destination airport.

The Businees Class lounges for Asiana at Incheon Airport are terrible, and their First Class lounges aren't much better.  Asiana's idea of business class food is ramen noodles.  Unfortunately, the selection of wine and spirits is on the same level as their food.

If you will be needing a shower or a slumberette, due to travel times. etc., I would say, it is a good idea.  However, if you won't be needing either, there isn't much point.

Joining a mileage program and being faithful to the carriers in that program can get you access to their lounge for a modest fee, mileage, or rewards.

Bottom line, you have other options to get access.

It really depends on the lounge itself, Asiana lounge in Incheon, especially the one in the detached concourse (I know there is another one in the main concourse) is pretty sad. Very few food choices and the whole atmosphere is quite depressing
