This game uses images from the real DIXIT game.

If you've ever played the DIXIT card game you probably thought it would make a good ESL game. It's basically a fancy picture guessing game giving hints. But the illustrations are really whimsical and interesting.

I've modified it for a classroom game. A team has 4 images to choose from, they choose one and give hints about it. The other teams try to guess which picture they chose and there is a point system accordingly.

This looks great! I actually used the real Dixit game with my afterschool students the other day and they loved it! Thanks for this. I will put it into my supply of activities to use with my other school where I do fun lessons once a week. This will go down well.

Toddingumi, the number cards at the end are for voting... if you want to have each team vote quietly for which card they think the 'host' team is talking about, you can give each team 4 cards, and tell them that they must hold up the number they think is correct, rather than having each team copy each other. If you play the real dixit game you have to vote on which card you think is the storytellers, these cards are along the same lines, each team votes for which card they think the 'host' team is talking about in order to get points.

I can't even imagine how much time went into making this. It's so beautiful. Used it today for an after school class and it went swimmingly. My co-teacher and I thank you. ^^

Great job elacosse. My students found this very interesting. Overall great idea and great execution on the ppt. It's simple enough to be played by low and high levels yet ut remains challenging for all levels, very cool.

I doubt this will help you but I just gave each team a minute using my phone as a timer.

My 5th graders loved this game, and even got students who never speak to play. Works best with partner teams. Only problem is low-level students will try to use colors ...only. Some students will also be too tricking naming things that are in other cards, so they always lose a point.

I love dixit and I am definetly saving this game. But I have the problem with the scoring page. It resets every time I go back to it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
