I decided to change the magic gourd game for this lesson.  The teacher or the class should invite and whomever's turn it is should answer. "I think so" to keep the seed or "I don't think so" to give it to another team. I think it's great for part 2 of the lesson

I don't have a video that uses this dialogue. Instead I'll use some of my camp videos which you can discuss them with 'what do you think?'

The Three Little Angry Pigs (3rd Grade)

4th grade version:
http://www.adamthomasphotography.com/Other/Videos-with-Subtitles/i-fL57wfP

The Gingerbread Man (And Zombies) (4th and 5th graders)
http://www.adamthomasphotography.com/Other/Videos-with-Subtitles/i-cLxjHkS

I'm currently working on I've finished the video from this past summer camp. This one will probably be the better choice, as I intended it to highlight the subjects of bullying, racism, and multiculturalism. The catch is that it's roughly 9 minutes long (11 with credits). This will be finished in a couple weeks from the date of this post. I also made copy with Korean subtitles. In the next few days I'll be making some materials to accompany the video. My coteacher and I plan on using this near the end of the lesson (part 5 probably). I made two, one with 3rd grade and one with 4th grade. I think the 4th grade version came out better. This one is linked below.

Many thanks to Hoell711 on another thread, I have used this in a number of my classes and my students (much to my surprise love it).

It's fairly self explanatory: Hand out a card to each student. Start with the first card and have that student read it aloud.
The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer and asks the next question (on the same card).

This is a great listening exercise

This is definitely an apples to apples game lesson if I ever saw one.

Last winter I found an ESL version of Apples to Apples on here. I can't remember where though, but big thanks to the creator. I used it in a board game camp, then made more sets and used it to fill time at the end of the last semester and it went over really well (did it in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade). I made a PPT to teach the game, then demonstrated one time, then they played. It can take up the entire class period. The creator made a main set and an extension set. I just used both. Laminate and cut. There are just too many to cut, laminate, then cut again. Use rubber bands to hold them together and sandwich bags to hold them.

Also found this, a PPT version of A2A. Haven't looked at it, but it has many good comments: http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,30531.msg212261.html#msg212261

I combined a game made by another user and some pictures from the person who posted the 4 corners game. This is a speaking and listening game I am using for the second period.

G6L10: What do you think?

I used the following ppts - all contain ideas/templates from other users and old threads, so thanks to the original posters.

G6L10P1: Find the apples (boys v girls class activity), Sandman (Whole class mingling activity)
G6L10P2: Pass the ball (thanks @nancyktnguyen) and textbook activities

G6L10P4: Sleeping Elephants from @Zealot_Hill
Sleeping elephants template, edited for this chapter. Nothing fancy. Just giving back a little for all the wonderful material I've taken off here :)

Enjoy!

P.S. For a review of Lesson 8-10 during these next two weeks with the public holidays, I will be using card games attached here: http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,88484.0.html

I am not the creator of this game but I adjusted it for the reading period.

To play you need to make 4 teams:
Team Pair, Team Beijing, Team Cairo, and Team New York.

The team needs to read one of the questions: the blue, green, purple, yellow, or red rectangles.
After the team reads the question they have to answer: I think it is/ they are ________.
I have answers written underneath the questions.

Then click for that team click on the arrow matching the color of the question they answered.

After all teams have answered click on "Send the ninjas."

If a ninja goes on their rectangle then they get a point.

Hello all, today we started this lesson and I did this simple speaking game using the Random Name Picker site: http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/09/the-speaking-wheel.html

For the wheel activity our dialogue was:

A: I think it's __________. What do you think?
B: I don't think so. I think it's __________.

And for a later lesson I am going to do this "Restaurant Web Review Worksheet"
I made it today, hope you can use it in your classes! Or make one similar! It's made to look like a review website - but follows the sentences from the textbook. I am thinking of doing a fun taste testing class after Chuseok holidays too! Keep an eye on the blog as I'll be sure to post about it. See worksheet here:http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/09/restaurant-web-review-worksheet-esl.html

Also, a TIC TAC TOE speaking game - did it today (update)

you can see full instructions with pictures to download free, here: http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/10/tic-tac-toe-for-little-ones-big-ones.html

Happy Chuseok and happy teaching!

Sentence Relay game.

Split students into teams. I have a tiny class so I have the students in 2 groups of 3. The students get 10 seconds to look at the sentence, and then the 1st student runs to the board and writes one word. When they're finished they run back to their team and pass the pen to the next student, who will then go to the board and right the next word in the sentence. They repeat this until the sentence is complete. The first team to finish the sentence correctly get a point. If your class is big, you can have them pass markers without moving and use a white board, or a piece of paper. You can adjust the directions on the ppt accordingly. I got this idea from my friend, but I made the powerpoint to explain and display the sentences.

I also added a few more slides to the pass the ball game someone else posted in this thread. I just wanted to play the game a bit longer. My 6th grade consists of 6 BTS obsessed girls so I added some BTS slides in there. First time posting, so it may not appear for a bit.

I got this sort of board game idea from a different thread so thanks to the original creator. Print slide one for either partners or groups of four. First student reads any "I think it's ______. What do you think?" then roll the dice. If they roll that associated number or higher, then they get to move the number of spaces next to that word NOT the dice number they roll. Also, other groupmates should respond, "I think so." If they roll smaller then they can't move and the others say, "I don't think so. I think it's (opposite adjective)." I included two extra practice examples just for me to check that they understand the idea. Really though, I haven't had any classes get confused after the PPT explanation. Enjoy!

I held off posting this until I tried it on some classes. This is discussion based on the video I made for bullying, racism, and multiculturalism, incorporating the lesson expression into it. It went over pretty well. Although many couldn't say much, my coteacher said they understood it well. Between the video and discussion, this takes the entire 40 minutes. There's a drawing activity at the end, but unless I cut a big part, there wasn't time for it. I added some notes in the slide about how students will react during that slide. Links are added for pictures/text for more information in certain parts. There's also a hidden slide with some information for teachers. Korean translations were checked by my coteacher and my wife. It's made to be objective. Hope it works well for you :)

This game was pretty fun in a large class.  I have a class of 30 students, 3 students at a table.  It is very simple.  Therefore,

1.  I gave each team a white board with a marker and eraser.

2.  I would ask, "What do you think about...?"

3.  Students would write, "I think...is..." and draw a picture describing it on the bottom.

4.  The best team gets a point for their team.

Example:
Q. What do you think about school food?
A.  (One student wrote this.)
"School food is disgusting (or bad)."
Then they drew a picture of a person throwing up.
Then they got a point.
