First upload here in a while. All pretty standard stuff.

With the 'ladder game' each team has to say "i want to be a..." until they get to a red circle, then they're out. Starts out slow but gets real tense towards the end.

You'll need the fonts or the job predicting computer part will look like garbage.

It's a writing game. (Thanks to who came up with the original!) The rules are in the PPT. The first round the kids are kinda shy and then once they get the hang of it, they love it! I think it'll take about 20mins to get through all the questions, but I just play 'til time runs out. ;D

Something I modified from another poster. Answers are Designer and Actress. Kids have to figure out Actor. But I used the English Tree What Do You Want To Be on yt and wrote down a bunch of jobs on the board before handing this out. We made it take the whole period.

Complete lesson including lesson plan
Grade 6 Cheonjae 2 - What do you want to be? 1 of 1

I've been using the fabulous resources on waygook all year.  I've also been writing lesson plans all year to give to my co-teachers.  So I'm basically just going to upload all my lessons in their entirety for anyone else to use.  I'm sorry, I haven't sourced all the games and slides that I have used.  Some of them I've made myself, of course.  A million thanks to all users who must have spent hours putting together PPT bomb games etc.

Some of my lessons have been hugely successful, others much less so.  Hey, we're working with kids - second-guessing them is a mine field, right?!  They seem particularly to enjoy games with cards or dice.  Running dictations and Sleeping Elephants always go down well.

I taught two classes per lesson so my posts will be labelled (lesson title) 1 of 2 and (lesson title) 2 of 2.  I haven't edited anything since I used it.  Some of my lessons were over-planned ie there was too much for one class, so they have been carried over to subsequent classes.  Generally things should be pretty clear.  Feel free to PM me if you need any help with anything - but I will only be on waygook until 18 September 2024 when my subscription expires.

I ONLY TAUGHT ONE CLASS FOR THIS LESSON.

My materials for this lesson

- Reading Race. A pairs game my students get really into. One student starts at A, the other at B. They simultaneously read their way around the board. When they meet they do RPS, the winner continues and the looser goes back to the start. The aim is to complete the circuit. If one student is cheating and not reading properly, their partner often calls them out for cheating i've found. I got this from my CoT.

- Boggle. A ppt version of the game. Kinda like a wordsearch. Thank you to the original creator.

- Pokemon Telepathy. Thank you to the original creator.

- Frozen bomb game. Thank you to the original creator.

I played your Evolution game today and my kids absolutely LOVED it! I was so nervous because my 6th graders are quite difficult to please and hate getting out of their seats, but I wanted to try this anyway. We had an absolute blast!!! Thank you so much :)

Evolution Game and What's behind Mario
The PPTs explains the games.

Spy Game
SS close their eyes. Each S gets a secret card. They may not show their cards to other SS. Students try to find three other students who have the same card, by asking: "What do you want to be?" The students reply with: " I want to be a(n) _____." The student looks at his/her card and fill the blank with that word. Spies can lie to form part of a group of four. When a group has found four member, the group goes to T. The first group gets candy, only if there are no spies. If there are spies, only the spies get candy.

I did amcrawford2's idea of "find the thief" and my apathetic students enjoyed it! I found it worked better when I did more than one thief that way if something happens (like the student who is the thief gasps when they get their card) the other students still have another thief to find.

Directions:
1. Everyone will be given a card with a job on it. Don’t show your card to anyone!
2. Walk around and ask “What do you want to be?” Then write their name on your worksheet.
3. If you are a thief, you are allowed to lie and say a job from the worksheet. Don’t tell anyone you’re the thief!
4. If two people say the same job then one of them is the thief.
