1. Foldable Jobs Mini Book with instructions on the 2nd page (I used this for Period 5).
2. LEGO Occupations PPT slides -- You can attach the slides to any period as a review or turn it into a Pass the Ball activity with some music slides added.

Really basic shouting game but the students had fun.

One group is at the front, each with an assigned number from 1 to 4. Students shout "I want to be a ...." (according to their picture) at the same time, and other students/groups have to guess what they said. The students who are guessing are obviously not supposed to see the screen.

Our teams repeated it two or three times if necessary, but not too much.

There's numerous scoring options. Groups, individual, or a point for one correct occupation, two points for two, etc. Also an opportunity for writing practice.

An intro ppt is also attached. This was largely adapted from someone else's ppt on this thread but there was a minor mistake in the Korean that my CT corrected, and I deleted some slides. I also inserted the occupations to reflect the shouting game so they could practice those beforehand. Additionally, those pictures from the original intro ppt were used in the shouting game ppt which saved me some time, so thanks to the creator.

It is also better to insert some blank slides between each round so no-one can sneak a look when the students are guessing, and add numbers to each slide because I had to make sure I went back to the right slide.

Hope it's useful.

  • G6L14P2 - PPT review and modified Pirate game (speaking -- thank you Gasian!). You can choose one of two versions (slides) for each review.

Sleeping Minions - This new sleeping elephant type game was posted in a grade 5 thread by someone else. It's soooo well done. I've modified it for this lesson.

Google +1 Reading Game - This was a Baskin n Robin template but I change the ice-cream pictures to Google coins for something different.

Thanks to the original creator of this template from different thread!! My kids love it!

Here's a writing game. You can play it in teams on small team whiteboards or have one student from the team come up to the main whiteboard to write. I'll be printing off the worksheet slide so my kids will all be writing. They'll play with their partner and the first one to write it correctly of the partner set wins that point.

I modified an earlier ppt from the thread into a mingle game for period 2 (thanks to the original). It was a little tricky to explain but my students enjoyed it and it got everyone saying the target expressions a lot. Any ideas for improvements are very welcome!

Basically it is a mingle game (walk around and write the names of other students for each job on your paper) with the twist that some students have "thief" cards. The thieves can lie about their jobs so it is up to the other students to try to figure out who is lying. Make sure to emphasize that if you're a thief you have to choose from the other jobs on the paper. Then if two students say the same job, one must be a thief. I would recommend "randomly" selecting stronger students to be the thieves.

I printed and cut out the occupations and gave one to each student along with a blank worksheet. There are 24 spaces so for my smaller classes I took out some jobs and made sure they crossed out the corresponding ones on the worksheet. Then the students walk around and ask "What do you want to be?" "I want to be a _____" and fill out the worksheet. I gave stickers to the thieves and any students who found all of them.

1. Here's the Foldable Mini Book again in PDF form in case you had trouble opening it in Publisher before.
2. "You Can Be What You Want to Be" by Small Potatoes (song video plus lyrics gap fill worksheet)
3. LEGO Jobs Review PPT (with some extra slides added) and Lego City 5-minute video clip (I asked "What job is this?" throughout video when different occupations came up.)
4. Jobs worksheet (vocabulary and word search)
