Period 2

Not much to work with here.
I did My active words - let them create a club that is not in the book and give feedback.
Skipped  the chant because it is nonsense
Talk and Talk - Let them make group conversations, not allowing them to use what is already in the book.

Play zone 2

Then I played this What will happen next game. (attached)
I show them the video clip, and ask them to tell me what will happen next.
If someone puts up their hand and tell me what will happen next, they get 10 points.
If I have to go to the Multiple choice (which I made them write on a white board and hold up on the count of 3) They get 5 points if they are correct. They then have to say the sentence.

This takes up about 20 minutes.

Someone else (Mr C?) made this reading/writing activity for a different lesson. I like it, so I've changed it up a bit to fit this lesson.

Also, the old rock-paper-scissors speed reading game. If you don't know it, there are instructions in the document. My students participated actively.

*DISCLAIMER* My co-t is always "busy" so be sure you get someone to check over the Korean words & expressions before using in class.

As always, if/when I make more ppt's I'll edit this post & attach them here. Happy teaching!

Intro: Pretty self explanatory. (Ideal for the first period)

Slap game: Divide the class into two teams, 2 students come up to the front and have their back facing the TV screen (and me) with fly swatters. The students who are still seated will ask the question "What will you do during the vacation?" I then reply "I'll ____ ." Both students then turn around & the first person to slap the correct picture on the TV using the fly swatter gets a point for their team. (Ideal for the first period or second period)

Period 2 & 3 Intro: Added some extra slides to review the key expressions. There's also some hidden slides to introduce the new expressions "How do you say ____ in Korean?" & "It's ____." for Period 3 as I plan to use the same intro for that period too. (Ideal for the second & third period)

Heads Up 7 Up game: Instructions included in the PPT as well as a PDF of some picture cards if you need them. (Ideal for the second period)

Cowboy game: Instructions included in the PPT, I'm including the Rio Grande font as well if you need it. (Ideal for the third period)

Sleeping elephants
Fortune teller - PPT to show students what they can write on their fortune teller.
Show them how to make one.
Fortune teller sheet - students to go around the classroom telling each others fortunes using their fortune teller and write it on the sheet. Give feedback to the class afterwards.

Thanks for Kwai_Chang_Kain, I've updated his ppt for this lesson and revised it to for 3 periods with different expression points in lesson suited for my classes. Hope it can help others as well.

Group of 4: 2 in a team
Team A: Student 1 throws dice, looks at the number (vertical line)
              Student 2 throws dice, looks at the number (horizontal line) and they   
              mark the block 
              where the 2 meet
              - get points for that block if they say the correct expression

Yeah I'm a big fan of Kwai_Chang_Kain 's format for introduction PPTs.  I pull the Korean translations from the DVD program so I don't need to depend upon my co-teacher to translate.

Attached is my own interpretation.

I run the writing game as a group activity. An image from the introduction shows up on screen, and the students write the English word on their individual whiteboards. The fastest team gets 3 points, the next team gets 2 points, the last team gets 1 point (if they finish). I use monopoly money to distribute points. I make sure that each group has a top 3 student who can lead the lower level students who are new to the vocabulary. At the end of the game each team totals their points, and they line up to leave the class in the order of their ranking.

Yay! I have been trying to upload this for days and the site is finally letting people upload again!!

So ... I made a version of Chicken Cha Cha for this lesson. Some of you may remember from the 5th grade book. Thank you to the original creator.

I am using this lesson for Story Pot because the random vocabulary for Lesson 13 (chicken, egg, girl, pretty) is only found in the Story Pot lesson.

Attached is a description on how to play the game.

Update I am finally doing this lesson and I noticed a small mistake on one of the tiles. I have corrected it and uploaded the PPT again. Sorry for the mistake.

Also, my students found it a bit difficult remembering which tile went with which egg. Since I had already printed, cut out and laminated the game, we underlined the key word in the expression to help the students.

However, I decided to make an easier version of the PPT where the key word is in orange text. I have uploaded that as well.

Just edited my previous post up above from last year to include a Cowboy game for the 3rd period. I actually didn't even have a chance to try it out in class as we ran out of time, hopefully some of you can put it to good use.  :P

Activity for 1st period: Mystery Bag game

Download and laminate the cards. Put one set into a bag for each group you have. As music plays in the background, have the students in each group pass the bag to their group members until the music stops. When the music stops, the student with the bag pulls out a card. Each group that has the card you selected out of your bag gets 1 point. repeat the process.
