This is a generic Halloween lesson for Middle School kids. I modified it from a PPT from another user.

I also attached a bomb game that I also modified from another user.

alexisprofe, thanks for the Halloween Hot Seat! I liked the idea so much that I spent two free periods coming up with some more slides. This version now has 100 slides. Hope it comes in handy!

Thanks for all the material guys! I'll be using it. I love the youtube video. I will definitely be showing it at the beginning of class. Here is a role play worksheet I made. It's about picking a Halloween costume.

Part 1 of a Halloween lesson I put together, with some help from other ppts on here (especially the hidden picture one).

I start with "this is Halloween" clip from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Then Halloween Part 1 and finish with the Hidden Picture.

I've also uploaded some worksheets I found online that would work for varying levels.

Halloween Part 2 (I'm stretching Halloween over 2 weeks to fit around a long weekend and mid-terms).
The ppt includes a few games/activities.

The idea is to have students in groups of 4.
-1st has them brainstorming as many Halloween-related words as they can.
-2nd has them finding and writing as many words using the letters h-a-l-l-o-w-e-e-n
-3rd is for a jigsaw activity where each students gets a slip of paper that has clues on it (10 in total). They need to put their clues together with the other students (ideally by speaking and not just showing the paper) to determine which monster it is. The worksheet is attached.
Further down you will see a few slides where the whole class gets 15-30 seconds to look and try and remember all the details from the picture, then I ask questions about it.

With the extra time use a worksheet or play a simpsons halloween special.

I have to teach a writing class, so I figure I will take advantage of the Halloween week coming up and teach a Halloween writing class. I've attached some activities. Included are an unscramble the sentence activity and a fill in a blank activity to somebody's letter about Halloween to their Grandma. Lastly they have to write their own letter about Halloween to whoever they want. Enjoy!

I posted this ptt on the another thread called scary movies, but in case you missed it...here it is again:

I can't remember on which website I found the orignal lesson plan but since I couldn't download the ptt I made my own. It's based on the short horror film called Suckablood (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw4gwwS-nFI). Basically the kids watch the film, fill in the gap fill and answer questions from the ptt all the while getting scared silly

Stop the video after the first 28 seconds on the title page and discuss the questions from the ppt.
Stop the video at 1:33 after the mother has said the curse and fill in the gap fill and then discuss the predictions.
Stop the video at 2:16 after Tilly has climbed to her room "at the top of the house".
Stop the video at 3:02 just when the Suckablood's fingers appear from under the bed.
Stop the video at 4:35 when Tilly's "tiny hear froze."
Watch to the end and discuss.
Watch once more this time without pausing it.

I mixed and matched two worksheets I did before, made some edits, and made it into a much better activity for my students. They have to complete a letter using the wordbank and interview their partner asking about what their halloween costume will be and why and what they will do for Halloween and why. Hope it is helpful! Happy Halloween!

I used some templates and pictures around the site to make this (thanks to original posters for your ideas).

It's a dart game...students are in teams of 4-6 and one student at a time from each team answers the question. I have them raise their hands, and pick them in order of who is screaming "PICK ME TEACHER ME ME ME" the least.

When they make a sentence they can throw a dart to get points. In my case, I don't have a dart board at all my schools so I draw targets on the board (add crazy side targets with large point values for excitement) and have the students throw a ball. I moniter the throwing and confirm the point value.

They have had a lot of fun so far! Hope it helps someone. Takes about 20 minutes to play. Add more slides to make it longer.

I think you all had some wonderful ideas. I changed around one of the PPT's and added some of the History of Halloween to it. I had to shorten it because my school requires I finish everything in a textbook, and I couldn't devote a whole class period.
