Sleeping Minions Game
« on: November 16, 2015, 01:43:18 pm »
Here is a game I made. It's called Sleeping Minions it's exactly the same as Sleeping Elephants only with minions. The rules are in the ppt.

I hope this comes in useful to someone!

So I'm totally confused with how to play...I've never heard of "Sleeping Elephants" and I don't get how to execute the game. Can someone explain it to me? Does EVERY student open their eyes for each slide? Or just a certain number? What sentence are they writing? Is there supposed to be a sentence on each slide? Does each number write a different sentence? Are they making a sentence on their own or am I giving them a sentence to write? Is this a template PPT or is it ready to play as is? Sorry for all the q's!  This game is totally new to me but I want to try it out!

It's a great game - highly recommend it (had success with it at middle schools too).

Split students into teams of 4.* Number each student 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Make the studentss 'go to sleep' (heads on desk / don't look at screen).
Make all '1' students wake up and look at the screen. Show them a part of a sentence / expression (e.g. 'My').
Make all '2' students wake up and look at the screen. Show them a part of a sentence / expression (e.g. 'is').
Make all '3' students wake up and look at the screen. Show them a part of a sentence / expression (e.g. 'Mario.').
Make all '4' students wake up and look at the screen. Show them a part of a sentence / expression (e.g. 'name').
Make all students wake up, and in their group they work together to form the correct sentence / expression (e.g. 'My name is Mario.').

* If you can't make teams of 4, either make a strong student take the role of two numbers (strong student = '1' AND '2', for a group of three students) or make two weaker students share a number (two weaker students = '1' for a group of five students).

You'll have to fill in the slides with expressions you want to teach / review. Hope this clears it up for you.

Thank you so much! That makes  total sense, it sounds more fun than I thought!  Thank you for explaining!
