A lesson about the police.
I have taught this lesson with success.
I hope the exercises here are self-explanatory.
2 of the exercises (both headed "watch the video") are video exercises. Use the video files "video1" and "video2" with these exercises.
I think some of the PPT slides here are a little ugly and untidy (like slide 13), and the presentation may be a little Brit-centric for non-UK teachers. Whether you modify these things is up to you.
I have high-level students and the lesson may be pitched a little too high for your set of students. Again, you may wish to make changes.
If the exercises have been completed and you have time to spare at the end, there is...
1. a simple revision activity ("revision.ppt").
For this, separate students into teams.
Have each team choose a number.
The numbers link to a covered-up word from the lesson which the team members must try to remember.
The red square in the top right corner links back to the main numbers screen.
2. there is also a wordsearch. (Page 3 of "worksheets.pub.")
thx

Great work. I like this lesson a lot but video 1 has no sound. Anybody else have that problem or is it just me? Video 2 works fine.

Hi sorry should have mentioned, actually I deliberately cut the sound out in that video.
The clips in video 1 are from an old UK TV series and the English used in it is full of slang and very London-y. I thought the language would be confusing and distracting for the students so I axed the volume when I was editing the video. Whether this was the right or wrong thing to do is debatable, of course.

Damn, this lesson is amazing. And so high-quality!! As a Brit I love having more stuff like this to share my culture a bit too (after spending the year being forced to say 'soccer' through gritted teeth
) so this is a perfect material for me.
Thank you so much!

But I like this video running away from the police much better.
