NASA SURVIVAL GAME
« on: March 08, 2016, 03:32:27 pm »
I made a survival game.
Students are shown a list of items.
Students have to decide on the order of importance for survival.
Students then compare their resolution to the one provided by NASA (apparently).

This activity was lifted from the book Discussions that Work: Task-Centered Fluency Practice.
I created a small web course for newbie teachers on Udemy here.

Suggestion for this game: give teams of kids each 20 dollars (fake if your school has em) and auction off the items to the teams (print them out and maybe laminate them). Then show the true value of the items at the end and the winning team as the most combined value). I do this a lot with various vocabulary. I have a set of desert island survival objects as well as a fridge of different foods.
