If you are interested in resources (advertisements, videos, magazines etc) for lessons surrounding a large range of issues, you should check out

http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/

Really great sources on a huge range of topics. I've used them a lot for Gender Equality.

This is a really cool site. I was a sociology major. Do you use this to teacher your students?? And what are their respones and reactions to sociological issues facing society today??

Very interested to hear your response!. ^^

This is great!

My degree is in sociology too! Represent.

Anyway, this is going to be really helpful for my teacher class. It is a discussion class and I'm desperately trying to get them to use their own "sociological imaginations". It's like pulling teeth but I think they're starting to get the hang of it. This site is definitely going to be useful in giving me discussion topics.

Thanks so much!

I just used this site as a resource for gender material.

I have a few ideas up my sleeve, but am unsure how to go about it.

I generally find my students are very 'flat' or simple with their thoughts about these topics. They are just 15 year olds. But I like to think I'm starting to open their minds up. Usually my class is the first time they have even spent time thinking about the topics. I don't often get to do more than 50 minutes with them either.

But yeah, I just have this site up my sleeve as a potential and I know it's got great potential for other people as well, so thought I'd share. Other than the sharing, not much help!

my degree is in sociology too :) What grade do you teach? middle or high school?

I'm interested to see how sociology can be incorporated into lessons especially with middle school students.

Thanks for the link :)

I'm a sociology major too!  :o
Now I know what my degree is good for  ;)
Anyways, I'm intersted in studying the integration of immigrant children into mainstream public schools here in Korea. Does it happen?
