This is a great video, thank you Marty. My first graders really enjoyed it. They even know the lyrics to the song. :)

Hello again,

I put this simple video together for the the little guys. If you are interested, watch the video and then have the kids draw their own pictures. You can send them to Marty Moose  (marty.moose@rocketmail.com) and we will add them to our facebook page.

Happy teaching

Thanks, this looks like a great activity for my after school class.

When you did it did the students have any trouble understanding house if they lived in apartments?

-dtschaeff, did you try changing your location to somewhere else besides South Korea? I changed mine and it works.

If the site is in Korean, how do you know which link says Location on the home page? Can you guide me?

teaching "what can you do?"
« Reply #32 on: September 05, 2011, 12:49:29 am »
Hello all,

I'm thinking about putting together a series of VERY simple video skits meant to be used for very young learners. Skits that focus on one particular target sentence. I made the first one today. "What can you do?" Please have a look and give me your feedback and or suggestions for future target sentences

Cool,

Marty

It looks great to me, but it reminds me of this pumpkin video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a91oTyA0Oq8

As for a suggestion, I couldn't find any simple videos for "What am/is/are you/he/she/it/the tiger doing?"  It would be great if there was a video with animals that had -ing actions.

Thank you,

I had a look at the other video. They are similar. I guess I'm not the only one that thought we could use these kinds of skits. I will give your idea some thought.

I used the pumpkin video with my grade 3, 4 afterschool. I had the lowest level child be the director and let the other kids choose which pumpkin they wanted to be. We watched the video twice and they verbally told me how to write the "script" on the board the second time (with pauses between each pumpkin). We went over the script together. Then I let them practice for 5 minutes before having them act it out. One of the kids wanted to change a verb to 'play the piano' and I let them.

It actually went very well. The kids enjoyed it and I added in a few more things (can you swim WITH SHARKS?!!).

I think either video would be good to make a skit out of.

I have been struggling to come up with an idea that involves ALL my students participating.
