Create comics :)

You can create comis with stripgenerator  ;D
My kids love it when I make these for them. Very useful when going through some of the dialogues that are already in the textbook.

I second the stripgenerator.com suggestion!  I have used it in the past too.  It's also nice that you can save your comics in PDF and print out blank panels for your students to create their own comics with.

Great resources!  I'm hoping to do a lesson on comics after the midterms, so these links will make that process easier.  I took a class on graphic novels in university, so it's definitely been an interest of mine for a while.

My students are often drawing something when they're not supposed to be, so a few times I've tried to harness that creative energy as part of the lesson.  Usually it goes over pretty well!

These are awesome! I've been wanting to make story boards for children's horor stories and was a bit lost on how to do that.

Thanks!

It's even easier to just copy and paste the dialogues from the HWP teacher's guides from each book.  Look in the individual unit threads and they should be available there.

Not surprisingly, my students definitely like drawing pictures more than writing English words to accompany pictures.  Haha!  That being said, this comics lesson that I finally got around to this week has been pretty well-received.  These are some pretty cool online resources.  Thanks the links!

Another good one is www.chogger.com. It has a built-in Google Image search too for easy picture grabbing. I used it for one of my after-school lessons.

I've also attached a quick Comic Book Blank PPT I used as in introduction before making one from scratch using the generator. It has a Garfield, Calvin & Hobbes, and Superman comic blank. Just print out each before-hand if you want to have your students do their own.

Thanks everyone for these great sites!

In the past I've used Comic Life (http://plasq.com/downloads/win) to create classic style comic layouts.

Go!Animate (http://goanimate.com/) make cute little video animations.  Sometimes I would screen grab some shots and plug them into Comic Life to make worksheets where students must fill in the blanks or what ever.

Also Marvel has a fun page (http://marvel.com/games/play/31/create_your_own_superhero) where you can create your own super hero.  Great for club activities!
