Grammar Review... FOR ME
« on: September 04, 2011, 09:19:39 pm »
Do you have any grammar references/reviews that you love/use often for high school-level questions? (Websites and books welcome!)
Recently I bought Explaining English Grammar by George Yule, but wanted to check for any that other teachers find useful.
So far Yule's book is pretty helpful. The explanations are pretty lucid and avoid the didactic/arrogant tone that prescriptive grammars have. It also has some practical suggestions for instructional use and throws in a bit of pedagogical theory here and there.

But what about you?
"The universe (which others call the Library) is composed of an indefinite and perhaps infinite number of hexagonal galleries, with vast air shafts between, surrounded by very low railings."
-Jorge Luis Borges
