(American) States of the Day
« on: September 19, 2011, 10:00:21 pm »
I'm starting something with all of my students where they learn the names of 10 different American states each week. By the end of the semester, they will know the names of all the states. I think its a good warm-up to getting into English mode and to create some continuity. There's also a song that I learned as a kid to learn all the states, and I plan on teaching them the song as we go. Here's a link to the Youtube version. If you don't like it, just search for another video, there are tons.

Just use this ppt as a template for all the states.

Enjoy!

I like the song, the PPT and the idea of continuity.

Please don't misunderstand me and think that this is some 'anti-American' comment or a criticism of your lesson.  Why do you think it's necessary for your kids to know the names of all the States?  I'm not American and, honestly, I have not found my inability to name all 50 states to be a hinderance at all.
