How to Learn Languages
« on: November 04, 2011, 05:17:02 pm »
OK, perhaps the title of the post is a little over the top, but this is a lesson which at least asks students to reflect on their attitude to English learning, and helps them out by introducing a program (Anki) and a website (lang-8.com) to help out.

As ever, I've written more about what to do, plus some thoughts on Korean learner autonomy on my blog at: http://breathyvowel.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/lesson-plan-helping-students-to-become-better-language-learners/

I hope it's useful.

The video in your ppt isn't working. Any thoughts? I really like this lesson though I think it will really make the students think.

Hmph. That's a pain in the ****. I tried to embed it but obviously it didn't work. I also just tried to upload it here, but the file size is too large in the allowed formats.

The video is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Dd3VGuAH_Ew

You can download it using keepvid.com, and then play it separately or embed it yourself. I'm happy to talk you through it if you've never done it before.

Thanks for looking.
