Anyone have a "Job Interview" lesson
« on: March 06, 2012, 08:31:28 am »
I was hoping to teach my students how to prepare for and participate in job interviews. If anyone has a lesson plan i could modify i would be in debt.

Thanks

I did this lesson about job interviews for my high school first graders last semester.

I start off with a brainstorm, asking the class what jobs they want to do in the future and writing the different titles on the board and then go on to show them a funny advert which is based around a job interview.

Next, I define 'attributes' and list some attributes for a few different jobs. Then, it's their turn and I show them some more jobs but ask them to shout out as many attributes that people need for the different jobs as they can. For the production stage of the lesson, I tell them that they are going to interview each other, using the 3 simple questions I put in the ppt. I focus on the key distinction between talking about things that they like and things that they are good at. When they've had a few minutes to practise with each other, I choose a few students at random for me to interview in front of the class.

The final part of the lesson is a simple taboo game, obviously with the aim of getting the class to use the required attributes as clues for the students who are guessing.
