Dream Big (Lesson)
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:50:47 am »
Hi.  Thought I would throw out this lesson plan.  It worked really well with my class.

Intro - Spoke about Dreams.  What they were.  Defined them.  Asked class what type of dreams they had.

Types of dreams - Asked class to discuss the the different types of dreams there were.  Ex.  Dreams for themselves, dreams for their country, dreams for the planet.

I Have A Dream Speech - Introduction of Martin Luther King and his dream speech.  Give out worksheet.  (Worksheets and speech are excerpts and not entire speech.
Link to speech:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4AItMg70kg

Go over the words of the excerpts and break down the meaning of each.  Read and chant with the class.

Go over "My Dreams"  PPT

Hand out worksheet of "My Dreams."  Students will be able to fill out their own dreams.
