Hi, I took some stuff from this thread: http://waygook.org/index.php?topic=22541

For the first period I'm using the intro and I'm using the guessing game instead of listen and play.

On the intro slide show the last pic is me - so I'd switch it for a pic of you to make it more interesting for your kids.

Thanks to the original makers of both of these!

Attached is a doc with pics of the book characters (Tory, Kate, Uju etc) and their names - going to cut it up and write random ages next to them for the age survey for Act and Play (you can find something similar on pg 23 at the back of the learners' textbook).

They must walk around, find a partner, play rock, paper, scissors
Winner: Hello.
Loser: Hello, I'm ______
Winner: 'How old are you?'
Loser: 'I'm ____ years old'

Rules: First person to get 5 people is winner
You cannot have same character twice OR same age twice! (makes it a little trickier - will be printing the sheet three times and will give same characters different ages).

(the slides at the end are because my computer is insane and keeps randomly going to next slide :( )

Using this for period 2. For the game, the students throw 1 sponge ball around the classroom in 20 second time frame. When 20s are up, Ss will look at the PPT and say the sentences e.g. 'how old are you, im 10 years old', 'can you help me?'. The team with the ball has to do the 'punishment' on the next slide. Teams who don't say the sentences don't get points. Team with the ball also do not get points. Minus points if they don't do the punishment.
This could easily take up 15-20 mins of class time.

Sorry if bad explanation haha. Anyway, I've played this with 3-4-5 graders and they all LOVE it. Hope it works the same for you!
Also, they can get VERY into the game, so should tell them you'll minus points if they stand up, throw the ball too hard, hold onto the ball for too long etc.

Lesson 11 Vocab and Key Expression introduction with Korean translation.
As always double check the Korean make sure it's correct.
At the end is an overview of the books game.
It's just pictures as I have student volunteers come up to the front and do a demo run through while I explain the rules, they understand better that way.

We instructed them to say up with a thumbs up or down with a thumbs down to give eachother hints. This is SUPER duper simple for my grade threes so we finished everything super fast. They loved the game in the book, but we had too much time and covered everything too fast. So we played kdh7963's number game from above, called it the next level since it's the reverse of the books game. Even taught them to reverse the question 'How old are you?' to ' Are you _____ years old?'
They loved it.

There's no where to put the chapter reviews "/

Here's a super simple study buddy for the grade 3s for Chapters 8-11.
There's space to write in the Korea, or Hangul pronunciation. Students can do this with your guidance, or have your co-teacher do it if you have one.

Go through the language on each one. Tell the students there will be a test EXACTLY as it's written on the study buddy (I set study and copy as homework).
Then in class, let them study each section for a few minutes and check they did their homework.

Test them section by section.

It's not much fun, but it's a good consolidation to cover the required language before the test in written form, and it's simple enough that they should be able to manage it.

FIGHTING!

I modified the Pass the Ball game to become, "How old are you?" "I am ___ years old."

Enjoy!

http://youtu.be/huQSbAff8xQ How old are you song.

I plan on doing this simple activity:

- Work in pairs
- Say together "How old are you?"
- On "You", put out one hand and show 0 to 5 fingers.
- Add your and your partner's fingers together
- Say the number using "I'm ____"
- The fastest person gets a point.

EDIT: Made a PPT to describe it. Better to demonstrate with your coteacher though.
Update: They LOVED it! I then encouraged them to get up and walk around battling their friends and myself. For more of a challenge, play with three people and add up to 15.

Here is a game that follows up on the theme of Period 1.  Teams play a "shooting gallery" game, called Lucky Ducky, to select where they "go".  The slides have an amusement park ride like merry-go-round and bumper cars.  As a class, we'll repeat the ride name a few times, then read the sentence with the info about the age limit.  Then, the team will guess which child pictured is old enough for the ride.  When the age is revealed they have to make a sentencee.  When they are correct, they go to the "prize booth" and earn points.  I'm calling it the English Fun Fair.

Complete directions are in the PPT.   REMOVED

Edit: I found a small error I made in the Ferris wheel round and have re-uploaded.  Apologies.

This game involves reading and counting.  One at a time, members of a team read a dialogue similar to the ones in the text, then on the next slide they have to count the number of items they see.  Click on the "hint" button to start the motion.  The more times they need the "hint" the fewer points they earn. (6 - (# of hints) = points.) REMOVED

Word Lotto Game for Period 3. Students choose three words to write down, then six words will disappear. They get as many points as the number of words they wrote down that remain on the screen. There are three rounds for each set of words, for a total of nine rounds. I threw in some punctuation for them to practice as well.

How did you guys find the Listen and Repeat this chapter?  I thought the one of the bus driver and the kid was so awkward!!  The students were super confused and I thought the bus driver  was scary...
But the second one is maybe my favorite in this book!  The little boy is so cute and adorable.  Anyone else with me here?  I just watched them again for fun right now...hahah.
