Is it a cultural phenomenon or just a group of people finding a new word for 'friend with benefits' or 'bit on the side'. Or even more bluntly 'cheating is ok'.
And the safest answer to all your questions is probbaly: NO!

1. No. Not everyone has a side chick. Some people don't even have a 'main squeeze.' So, you can categorize people as a) having no-one, b) having a chick, or c) having a chick and a side chick.

3. You shouldn't have a side partner unless your significant other knows about it and has given you the go-ahead. If you have a side partner in secret, that's called cheating, or being a scumbag.
