Side chicks. I have questions. Should I have one?
« on: May 12, 2017, 04:19:08 PM »
Greetings and salutations,
I hope everyone is well.  I have noticed that the term side chick has started being popularized in the common vernacular back home not only through conversation but also on social media.  I have numerous questions.

Does everyone back home have "side chicks"?
How does one get a side chick if one wants one?  More specifically, what do you say?
Should I tell my current girlfriend about my side chick if I had one?
Should I tell my side chick about my current girlfriend if I had one?
If I have a side chick, should I keep it a secret or is it supposed to be known?
How do I maintain a side chick - girlfriend balance?
How do you prevent the side chick from wanting to become your girlfriend?
How do you prevent your girlfriend from being angry?
How do you say side chick in Korean?
Should I have a side chick?
What is the male equivalent of side chick called?
How do I become one?

I am confused.  Thank you for your time.

Side chicks are too normal for me. I prefer across from chicks or around chicks myself :P

I am just asking questions.  It is nothing wrong with asking questions.  I am curious about the cultural phenomenon.

I am just asking questions.  It is nothing wrong with asking questions.  I am curious about the cultural phenomenon.

Is it a cultural phenomenon or just a group of people finding a new word for 'friend with benefits' or 'bit on the side'. Or even more bluntly 'cheating is ok'.
And the safest answer to all your questions is probbaly: NO!
(Obviously you're an adult and free to make choices   :undecided: )

For some reason, this thread makes me think of https://twitter.com/RikerGoogling .

My thoughts: If at any point you said or implied that you are exclusive, or failed to object when she said or implied that you are exclusive, or if it hasn't come up in discussion, and you are using the word "girlfriend", a side chick is not likely something that she would be cool with.

Greetings and salutations,
I hope everyone is well.  I have noticed that the term side chick has started being popularized in the common vernacular back home not only through conversation but also on social media.  I have numerous questions.

1. Does everyone back home have "side chicks"?
2. How does one get a side chick if one wants one?  More specifically, what do you say?
3. Should I tell my current girlfriend about my side chick if I had one?
4. Should I tell my side chick about my current girlfriend if I had one?
5. If I have a side chick, should I keep it a secret or is it supposed to be known?
6. How do I maintain a side chick - girlfriend balance?
7. How do you prevent the side chick from wanting to become your girlfriend?
8. How do you prevent your girlfriend from being angry?
9. How do you say side chick in Korean?
10. Should I have a side chick?
11. What is the male equivalent of side chick called?
12. How do I become one?

I am confused.  Thank you for your time.

Waygook.org user defenderoftherealm, some people don't get the subtleties of your unique brand of humour, but I'll play along.

1. No. Not everyone has a side chick. Some people don't even have a 'main squeeze.' So, you can categorize people as a) having no-one, b) having a chick, or c) having a chick and a side chick.

2. "Hello. My significant other has allowed me to have another partner on the side. I find you attractive, either physically or because of your personality, or some combination of the two."

3. You shouldn't have a side partner unless your significant other knows about it and has given you the go-ahead. If you have a side partner in secret, that's called cheating, or being a scumbag.

4. Definitely. If your side partner thinks they're your main partner, she will be disappointed when she finds out that isn't the case.

5. If you have a side partner, you should probably tell everyone, because they'll be jealous of your liberal and free attitude about not adhering to binary relationship standards.

6. By not giving too much time to one or the other.

7. You need to be calculatedly unattractive and unpleasant. Try not to use too many facial moisturizing products. And don't take care of your nails or cuticles.

8. Nothing can prevent your girlfriend from being angry.

9. 옆여친

10. Do you have a freaky weird-slash-cool girlfriend that's into that? Or are you an amoral human being who doesn't care about others and eventually wants to end up alienated and alone, eating canned tuna that you pulled out of a pair of sweatpants? Then probably.

11. Pool boy.

12. Get Gangnam face.

11. Pool boy.

Now you've got me thinking.  I wonder what the Korean equivalent occupation to pool boy is when it comes to adult rendezvouses.  Fried chicken delivery man?  keypad locksmith?

Additionally, are there any side chicks here on waygook?

You poor naive soul. Shady grownups cheat so they can have double the sex, hypothetically. And ya, side chick is a euphemism for what you think it's a euphemism for: someone to have sex with, on the side...
