Thank you! This ppt was awesome for my K-1-2 Class!

I added another game at the end of your ppt. I brought in some coloured candies, chose one and hid it in a cup, and had the students guess out loud which colour they thought it was. I also had them chant "What colour is it?" before they started. I made each student say the colour out loud..... since I can't remember all their guesses I put an action with a colour. (Ex: All kids who guessed white have their mouths open) I guess you could also do it by having them choose a coloured pencil. I revealed the candy to one student at the front of the class, who then had to say the colour out loud. Students who guessed correctly got a candy. I did have a little one cry cause he didn't win, but everything was ok when I gave them all a candy at the end of the game.

Another game is "Eye Spy"... but because they don't have the vocab for most items in the room, I had them touch the object they thought it was.

As a warm up I used this song. I only wanted them to chant the colours but it turned out that the language is so simple they were singing the whole song!

Thanks again for the ppt, they really enjoyed your game at the end. "What's this?" was good for review ^^

Colors Lesson plan
« Reply #2 on: September 10, 2010, 10:29:44 am »
Motivation:
Show the video Colors found at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzQsO8exVe4
-What colors did you see?
-What were they doing?

Instruction:
PPT about colors.  First have students just name the colors.  Go through one more time and have them give you the sentence, "It's ________"
Song (included in the PPT)
If You Are Wearing Black (to the tune of "If you're happy and you know it")
-Go through the song part by part asking the students to stand if they are wearing the color and have them do the action associated with the color.  Once you have gone through the song, sing it about 2 times.

In the Middle Game:
Students sit in a circle.  They each receive two color cards (construction paper squares of each of the colors of the song).  One person is in the middle.  The person in the middle calls out a color.  If a student in the circle has the color, they have to stand up and switch seats.  The person left standing is now in the middle.

Would be nice to see some extra colors in there.  Silver, gold, light and dark green etc.  There are often arguments about which crayon is green and which is not.

Thanks for putting this up! I'm definitely going to use this for my summer camp,  but make the vocab much simpler. Hopefully I'll remember to put it up here!

Cheers!

I used this for Grade 2, Lesson 6 What Color Is This?

It's a memory game.  If you have crayons ready, you can print off the last slide, hand it out, and the students color in the circles.  Otherwise, students could answer some other way.

I loathe coloring... but I love Color by Numbers! Attached are 42 color-by-number sheets for A4 paper.
