I mean, most of us here are teachers in Korea. I guarantee you if you told your school you weren't getting it, there'd be MASSIVE issues.

Yeah, I know I should be worried about getting it, but I'm really not. Maybe I'm an idiot, but the odds of any ONE individual, following guidelines, getting it is extremely small. (In Korea, obv).

It's the second part you said that I want. Can we just end all this bullshit? I wanna go see movies a lot. I've been to the theatre............ ..... 15 times this year? Jesus Christ. In a normal year that would be 50, I'm not even joking.

I wanna go to Seoul and eat with friends more than once a month. I wanna walk around without a mask. Let's end this, I'm SO. SICK. AND. TIRED.

I'm playing ball with guidelines but I detest it. It got old in May, it's bloody November now.

Yeah. My apartment back home is walking distance to two cool art deco movie theaters as well as a slew of other local businesses that give the neighborhood an awesome vibe and it would be a shame if any of them ended up going under due to the continued economic strain of the virus

Plus as a soon-to-be nurse, getting the vaccine is a no-brainer.

My only worry with a rushed vaccine is will it be safe? Will they find things in it later on because it was done so quickly? I'd prefer others to take it first and see, I've taken some pre cautions such as not visiting Seoul area since January and not going to the gym, etc.

In Seoul, there are too many crowds. In gyms, they don't sanitize and hose down all the weights and equipment which you know they should but don't. Also, I don't like wearing a mask for heavy cardio or when it's hot. I social distance and put a mask on when entering the store and wear at school.

I did do some outdoor cycling (no mask due to social distancing) but otherwise have gotten fatter this past year. Ha ha.

Honestly, the Spanish Flu lasted 2 to 2 and a half years before finally dying out and folks getting natural immunity to it. This has been around since at least the summer or fall of 2019. (Folks have told me of having covid like symptoms back in Canada in late 2019. One of my sister's even got a mysterious sickness after meeting a client from China last January. It was covid like symptoms.)

By the time this vaccine becomes available to the general population, covid will have been around for almost 2 years. Next spring or summer. So, the virus would be soon ready to die out anyways. Maybe might cut it down 6 months or so or may die out at the same time.

So, the vaccine will almost be kind of a moot point by then. Might cut short the mask wearing by a few months or something (or not at all). It will help the most vulnerable and prone to getting sick over this winter season however. (I believe the shots will only be available to the most affected in the short term.)

This Chinese government made virus will eventually come to nothing. Just like the Wuhan lab they got rid of.

Now if they can tweak this vaccine long term to increase immunity to all kinds of coronaviruses, either stopping or reducing the severity of these viruses attacks on the body, then it can be a long term benefit. Though I imagine in 50 or 100 years when the next pandemic occurs, medicine will be much better prepared for it. Even this time, we headed off the death compared to 100 years ago. This is in spite of the negativity and fear mongering of the media.

Does anyone else feel like China got off way too lightly? Apart from the odd instance of Sinophobia here and there, it seems like no one's actually held them accountable.

I mean nobody really can unless we all collectively agree to stop trade with them. I am sort of surprised the UN hasn't even bothered to slap their trademark economic-sanction-that-does-nothing on them, but I guess China has so much power there they can't even make the symbolic gestures.

Anyways, to the point of the poll, I'd probably put it off a week or two and then take it. Might as well make sure there aren't any immediate side effects. Of course they could pop up further down the line but I wouldn't put it off forever

Trump will hold them to account in his second term. There's going to be hell to pay. Already, manufacturing is leaving and headed to Vietnam. (Which by the way seem to be a country having many Trump supporters as of late - Vietnam.)

Yeah. That was weird. Virus started in Wuhan. But it's actually Italy's fault or a ploy by the US Army to bring down China or some other nonsense to deflect blame.

But tens of thousands of people have already volunteered to be guinea pigs for you (so you dont have to) in clinical trials!

These vaccines are still going through the typical process for development and approval, just at a far faster clip than usual, which they can do because of the amazing amount of resources that at being thrown at this effort.

You're right in the sense that we don't have near the number of infections or deaths both in total numbers and percentage wise of the total population. But the human body has often gotten a type of herd immunity eventually. Even local instances of plagues in history died out eventually. Even the Black Plague lasted in Europe about 4 years. But travel was slow and localized areas were 2 to 3 years. Spanish Flu 2 to 3 years at most.

The human body does eventually get immunity. Some die along the way too sadly or get an injury. (IE Polio.)

I'd prefer to wait and let it see what happens. But I may have to take one for my job. So, we'll see what happens.
