They are on par, I think, though I have never had cocaine.

How would you compare the buzz you get when you snort ramen powder compared to mac & cheese powder?

This thread was supposed to be about relative consumption not snorting.

The fact that IT IS powder with both shin ramyeon and Kraft dinner shouldn't mean one goes to SNORTING as the means of consumption, unless one is in the South American country. Let's not go stupid here.

Au contraire!

Equally on-topic, I don't go for the flavouring packets much: too much salt, and making a decent broth / béchamel is pretty quick and easy.
Also, weirdly enough, I actually never had Kraft mac and cheese before coming to Korea (the same isn't true for instant ramen. I lived off of that stuff in uni, although even then I added whatever other stuff I could scrounge up to make it an actual meal).

In Thailand a Korean man SHOUTED he'd give 50,000 won for one packet of shin ramyeon.

Why wouldn't he have just gone to a Korean mart or one of the other multiple places to purchase it and paid 50 baht for a pack?  I have found Shin ramyeon with ease everywhere from Bangkok to San Francisco to London.  Let's not go stupid here.

You wouldn't get stoned off of ramen powder or KD powder. Coke, it's the real thing.

Technically speaking, you wouldn't get stoned off of coke either. With coke you get buzzed.

Also, I don't think ramen or KD powder would make you grind your teeth. Nor would you be like "Lets add some Shin Ramyeon powder on top of a bowl of weed and smoke that."

Of course Bangkok has everything. San Francisco too.

But Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan or Ko Lanta, Thailand? Uh, no.

That's nothing compared to all the women who have traded sex for coke.

Or the many, many millions rock stars have spent on coke. And the millions they have spent while coked up.

I was a teenager in the 1980s.

I dunno which is more surprising,

1. that I never snorted (it was glam and famous, not as local)

OR

2. that I never puffed (i lived in B.C. until age 20 - marijuana was an estimated two billion dollar UNDERGROUND industry when officially our province had just logging and tourism).

Uh?  You said Thailand.  Where does Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan come in to the picture?  Anyways, Koreans in Thailand quite happily consume the cheaper Thai kind of ramyeon, mama, when they can't find their preferred brand.  For most Koreans, Ko Lanta, is not on their Thai travel itinerary, anyways.  As we all know, the vast majority of them stick to places like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket when they visit there.  I have met some that lived in Chiang Mai.  They have Shin Ramyeon.

*Note to mods: Just trying to make sense of the comment about a Korean in Thailand SHOUTING they'd pay 50,000 won for shin ramyeon.  There is no justification for you to delete this post.

I was in Ko Lanta for a few days before jumping off to some of the smaller islands a couple years ago. I first got mauled by mosquitos and leeches, which is fair play: totally par for the course. I then got mauled by a pack of jellyfish, which was also interesting, but in a much less pleasant way. They didn't even have anti-histamines there to deal with the swelling, so I walked around like a zombie that had tripped into a threshing machine for quite a while. Got some nifty photos though!

I have a similar story about Moose Jaw, actually, except that instead of jellyfish it was black flies...
