transportation home from incheon airport after overseas arrival
« on: December 29, 2021, 03:50:15 pm »
Does anyone know the procedure for getting home (other provinces, east coast etc) after going home for vacation and arriving back at incheon airport? Assuming one is subject to quarantine at the time, but not due to positive test

It seems like Chimp has got nothing better to do than insult people. Give it a rest Chimp, try to be nice for a change, it may be a whole new experience for you.

Rent a car. Have someone you know pick you up. Pay for a driver. Are there no buses? Take the train into Seoul and catch a bus there. Take a disease taxi into Seoul and catch a bus there. I swear I still see buses operating between Seoul and other places.

I mean like are you that helpless in real life that you need to ask the morons on here what to do? Just f-ing walk in that case

have you got nothing better to do than act like you are smarter than everyone else? Does it make you feel better about yourself? Wait, I have an idea. Why don't you get off your ass and come pick me up then? Or, better yet, so I don't have to deal with you in person, just pay a driver to drive me 3 hours back to my local health center and wait while I get a corona test and then take me back home?

For your information, because I guess you need more information to understand why someone would possibly ask such a question.....

1. I live far out on the east coast.
2. the information on whether or not public transportation was allowed changes with the quarantine changes etc and is not necessarily super easy to find the latest info in english, or even in Korean sometimes.....
3. I don't know anyone that drives or has a car and would be available to drive all the way from the literal east coast white sandy beach to the incheon airport AND back  (or from Seoul to Incheon back to the east coast and back to Seoul...it doesn't matter)
4. I do not drive....nor do I want to....and to even think about driving at night after a 24+ hour trip, nah hard pass (I can't see at night anyway and can't stay at a hotel cause guess why??????? I will just be getting back and need to quarantine and test for corona......)
5. There are no buses to/from the airport if you aren't allowed to take public transportation and there just aren't anyway.....I have to take a bus into Seoul as you suggested on the way there and then take another bus or multiple buses etc to get to the airport..... and even though I am scared to do that because I don't want any chance of catching corona before I try to get on my flight to get home to see my family that I haven't seen in 2 years, including a grandmother that just turned 80, another family member that died, a new niece etc....that's not the problem. ...the problem is getting home in Korea after I return and not infecting anyone because I will be coming from the US and there is a good chance that I could catch corona in transit from the US.......

So yes there will be a way.....that is what I am asking since all of the obvious ways you say are not gonna work for me THIS time........이해하셨습니까?

For me it's a 30min. subway ride home from the airport. It's
great when you just get off a long flight.

I live on the east coast and just got back via Incheon yesterday. Everything felt very ad-hoc.

After you de-plane you go through a few checkpoints where they check your PCR test doc and vaccination status and then you pass through immigration like normal. No one asked to see my re-entry permit though maybe immigration could see it when they pulled up my info.

After getting your luggage if you live somewhere that's not Seoul you can take the KTX from Gwangmyeong station after taking a bus from the airport at exit 8. It seemed like there was supposed to be some designated bus/train ticket booth for recent international arrivals at Incheon and Gwangmyeong but I couldn't find them so I just bought tickets as usual and no one seemed to give a shit.

After getting home the local gu Health Center called and told me to go for a covid test by noon today and then to stay home for 10 days.

Seems like you're supposed to download an app for home quarantine but no one told me anything about it and I tried downloading and setting it up myself but either I'm doing something wrong or it's not working properly so I gave up. Maybe I'll get deported.

Currently at home day drinking beer  ;D

nightninja, ignore chimp, I think he has some kind of inferiority complex and so he must belittle others to make himself feel better. Perhaps he suffers from the dreaded sms. Who knows? Best ignore this type of toxic person and carry on as normal.

Quite. Incheon has very few things going for it. Proximity to Seoul and
the airport. The islands off the coast are nice. That's about it.

They will show you how to set up the app at the hospital when you go for your test. You have to self-report every day for a week, maybe longer.

They did at the hospital I went to. More than a few people were having problems with it.

when i went to my local gu's covid testing center for my first test yesterday they didn't mention anything about the app or reporting in every day. i told them I was a recent international arrival and they just kinda shrugged. got my result via text this morning (negative!)

they also sent a large box of food (ramyun, rice, soup, kim, etc) and water to my apartment which was a pleasant surprise.

More convenient there for sure.  If they didn't pay such trash, I would have got up there long ago.  They should give an extra day or two holiday for the vacation out in the provinces due to the hassle of travel.  Always have to hit the Best Western once I land for some zzz's.

I heard in China you get extra vacation days depending on your distance from major international airports. Maybe it's time to pack up.
