R.I.P. Meat Loaf
« on: January 21, 2022, 10:32:37 pm »
The ex big man is dead at 74.

What a performer. Loved his cameo in 'The Rocky Horror Pictue Show', and the album 'Bat Out Of Hell'
was imbedded in my teenage brain word for word.

I hope he wasn't another victim of COVID.

https://nypost.com/2022/01/21/meat-loaf-was-reportedly-anti-vaccine-before-dying-from-covid-19/amp/

Covid is dangerous to old folks, especially the older folks with comorbidities.

Are you unhealthy?

You may have had 10-15 more years at the margins but...

COVID pushes you over the ledge!

Yes, Covid is even more severe for older obese anti-masking anti-vaxxers.  I guess he'd do anything for love but he wouldn't doe that!
Darwin has had his way again by the looks of it.

Yes, the 2nd would  be "people need to learn to just get healthy and stop getting old" !
But I I understand how some folks prefer their freedom to avoid those untested vaccines that have been under development for over twenty years and prefer to get their medical info from The Gateway Pundit.

Was it another covid or covid vaccine death?  Bob Saget and others passed away recently too.  Not a great start to the year.

Covid also goes after those that are unvaccinated at a disproportionately higher rate.

Who is Bill Maher? Never heard of him.

He's a prominent source of health information for one or two posters here, despite his lack of first hand research experience or medical qualifications.

Ahha, soooo... a bit of a quack. Not interested in listening to those who throw dubious opinions around, and mislead others.
But he's a celebrity like Joe Rogan! You can't say that.  >:(

Joe Rogan!!! Now I know that name. But I only consider his opinion valid on the fight game, and then not always  ;D

Joe Rogan is definitely not an authority on all topics, but he doesn't try to be and has guests from all walks and gives them all time to share their views.  Something that used to be commonplace.  Here's a recent podcast from Russel Brand highlighting the B.S. behind this open letter from 270 doctors condemning Rogan that it turns out aren't all doctors.  Pretty interesting listen.

Question for all the "listen to the doctors" folks out there- Who would you listen to, a doctor or a statistician (i.e. Nate Silver)?

I get all my medical information from statisticians.

At the risk of responding to one of your silly strawmen arguments, your making a unnecessary binary division. Medical practitioner should be informed by research that involves a degree of statistical analysis. It's not one or the other but the consensus of both. However, no, I wouldn't seek medical advice from  a guy who in specialises in analysing card games, basketball and baseball.  That said, I imagine you've just digested another puff piece of pseudo-science from some odd website that thinks masking and protecting oneself from Covid infections is the domain of 'Leftists' and are about launch into another of your cuckoo rants.

Would have gone with "Dead Ringer for a Covid infection" myself but I like your reference.
