Washington, D.C. – For the first time, Canada takes the top spot overall in the 2021 Best Countries Report, a ranking and analysis project by U.S. News & World Report; BAV Group, a unit of global marketing communications company VMLY&R; and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

I'm a Canadian ex-pat. I left in 2005 and haven't been back. I do plan to go back this summer to set up my pension. I wonder how much it has changed? It's a damn nice place to live generally...except for the weather.

I find it ... interesting ... that you decry any statistical study that disagrees with your opinion to be suspect, spun or biased, but Joe Rogan, John Stossel and Bill Mahr are veritable inerrant spouters of Truth which cannot be questioned.

Actually the States has a lot going for it. I think it could top the list
if it addressed problems such as healthcare, guns, worker's rights,
racism and wealth/income inequality.

Did you actually look at what the criteria is to be the 'best' country in the world in that survey? I'm pretty ashamed that the UK came as high as 7th actually, looks like there's a lot more work to be done.

These types of surveys are so value-laden as to be meaningless.  Perhaps they provide some value by simply being amusing to look at.  Other than that, I do not see how you can account for so many variables.

Yeah. That’s partially why I posted the list. To show it can’t be taken as gospel truth.

Citizens within countries were surveyed. Canadians like to think of Canada as the best country on earth, so they rated themselves highly.

Why did Chinese people rate their country so highly? They’ve been brainwashed by government propaganda and/or were afraid to say otherwise?

If you think the methodology is so strong, why did China rank so high? And if Americans are so dumb, as is being claimed, isn’t there a chance they could’ve made an imperfect ranking due to imperfect data collection methods?
