I don't know, I was just me. Who knows with kids? Probably because whatever I did, they enjoyed within themselves.
It's just how it was. I don't know.
Sounds to me like your first brush with popularity was when you came here and some group of kids complimented you on whatever midlevel talent it is you have.
745Sticky, you're seriously suggesting that people DON'T feel pressured to adopt English names either in the classroom or when they move abroad?
Of course right next door are Ypsi, Howell and Detroit... All that fancy was really just setting up shop in Versailles...
This is as bad as that time L I tried to tell us how intelligent he is
I think it's pretty much a rule that whoever brings the best recess snacks is the most popular. This isn't much of a personal achievement.
How do you even measure popularity among school children? And how are you measuring that popularity now, at least 30+ years after the fact based on what I can gather about your age.
So there, use that for whatever insults and counter-arguments you need. Just opened up the playbook for you. Enjoy!
WTF am I supposed to do? Lie about my childhood?
What? I was just responding to accusations of having been bullied.WTF am I supposed to do? Lie about my childhood?Anyways. Like I said- Glad to see you guys are getting your mileage out of it
Marti has labelled himself as the most popular kid in elementary and middle school> As a guy his age that is just such a sad claim to be proudly making. It's truly pathetic that you refer to yourself as Ferris Buellery. By the way, how were those skills that made you so popular as a child unable to be transferred to adulthood?
i would have ignored it personally. its a non-argument, why even acknowledge it
coolest trapper keeper in the class
No one said it was, and no, I didn't have the best snacks. Like I said- I don't know why I was popular. And it certainly isn't an achievement. I'm just telling you I was the opposite of bullied. Which is exactly why I wrote..."It's just how it was. I don't know."
The fact that Marty voluntarily offered that information as a source of pride suggests that (1) his time at school still plays a prevalent role in his identity (which is sad) or (2) he is overcompensating for trauma he experienced during his school years.
Or (3) he was homeschooled on the farm.
Trapper Keepers were 1st-3rd grade as I recall.
The fact that Marty voluntarily offered that information as a source of pride
: I can't imagine being in a state of mind where I would feel the need to use middle school popularity as some sort of trump card.
This is how we know you were not cool. No Trapper Keeper after 3rd grade? Please
4th grade everyone was starting in on electronic devices and clothes and like Super Soakers I think. Super Soaker 50 was most popular, 100 Was a beast. But my favorite was the 40. Best combo of weight to power. Trying to remember all the toys over the years....Micro Machines...GI Joe...Ninja Turtles...Tiger Electronic Games...Then serious stuff like GameBoys, BB guns, the Sega handheld, baseball cards, Starter Jackets, Sambas, Jordans, Lol, anyone remember LA Gear and British Knights? Then all of a sudden one day you look up and its an Alpine car stereo and 12" Rockford Fossgate subs and a Borla exhaust while wearing your Nautica and Polo Sport and blasting Biggie and Nas and Backstreet Boys and whatever. Then the toys become someone's 4 hose and six chamber and box of grape flavored.....And now it's your microbrew setup or boat or restored furniture or whatever....
