Thank goodness I don't have to work with a book. The themes are awkward and some of the tasks are mundane! I have the freedom to do what I want with my learners although sometimes you don't know where to start. I have used some of the better themes in some books just to get lesson outlines.

Grade 1 Talk Together activities for chapters 1-5. My first grade classes are mixed so I tried to aim for the middle with these activities.

-Grade 1 Lesson 1 Dialogue Halves
-Grade 1 Lesson 2 Running Dictation
-Grade 1 Lesson 3 Yugioh Bomb Game
-Grade 1 Lesson 4 Speed Row Dialogues (It's a few slides down in the powerpoint)
-Grade 1 Lesson 5 Speed Game

a presentation for the first 2 activities in lesson 7: a necklace in the grass. Also included a clapgame to help drill the vocab. This is meant to be done with the listening and talking exercises (a+b)

To get ideas for my grade 3 lessons, I started scouring the forums for other books... I think this celebrity intro game might be a fun alternative for the first "talk together" activity in Lesson 1. I'm going to try to tailor it to the lesson for our book and repost, but here's the original:

Here are my PowerPoints for grade 3 of Sharp William Edward (blue cover jumping kids) Lesson 7 through 9. I teach the same chapter twice in two weeks, so it has a week 1 and week 2 format. For my lesson 9 week 2, I used mycombs "Beauty of Hangeul" lesson as a template, but chopped it up to fit lesson 9 for grade 3: Korea is a Great Country. You can find his PowerPoint on pg 2, towards the bottom.

For lesson 8 week 2, word search team battle, just find a word search generator online. I like this site's generator: http://www.puzzle-maker.com/WS/ but http://tools.atozteacherstuff.com/word-search-maker/wordsearch.php is also a good one.

I hope this helps any new teachers with game ideas and lesson planning.
