Hi All,

Here's a lesson I made on world food. It worked quite well for me. Please share your comments or questions if you download it. If you like this lesson, my other posted lessons so far are Bucket List and Inventions.

I print off the team sheets that are provided in the rar file. Then I laminate the sheets and give them out to each team so they can use them to write their answers to the questions throughout the ppt. I do a golden-bell style game throughout the class and it keeps the students involved and interested in the lesson. When I get to a question the teams have to write their answers on their laminated team sheets with a white board marker. Then I do a 3...2...1... countdown and they all raise their papers at the same time. I then check the answers and give points accordingly. I write all the team names on the board and put ticks beside the team names for their points. This way the teams can see their points and it's more fun. I usually put about 4 students in each team.

NOTE: I zipped the lesson folder into one file to make everything tidier to download. Most of you will have no problems unzipping it I assume. If you can't open the file, just download WinRAR from the link below and install it. Then you'll have no problems opening compressed files after that.

Great post. My only issue is that an English breakfast has bacon not ham...

I will be using this though in an after school class!!

So far looks awesome...I just need too find an excuse to use it as it doesn't fit in the curriculum.

On page 26 the question has a slight mistake (forget what it is but easy to fix).

Thanks for all the kind comments! :D I've also posted an "Inventions Lesson" and a "Bucket List Lesson"

I just make all my own lessons at my school and don't follow the text book. You guys have encouraged me to post up more of my other lessons as well.

To answer some of your questions:

Apologies for the English breakfast mistake ::)

@portlandzach, I hope you managed to download the ppt file okay. Just so you know if you only download the ppt file you won`t get the fonts and the lesson doesn`t look as good. I`m just picky about the little things ;)

I don`t think grilled cheese is really a true Canadian thing ??? I just ate it a lot and I`m Canadian. I couldn`t think of any really solid canadian food to put in. Bannock maybe, but that`s boring. Tourtiere... I don`t know

Maybe poutine is a good one.

Looks like a really fun lesson, thanks. I think I'll mention to my students though that other countries also eat many of the other foods listed (for example, Americans eat grilled cheese and pancakes too

)

The only thing that I don't like about it is that I found it with 45 minutes left to lunch :'(

There's actually a fair amount of specifically Canadian food...it's just that it happens to be pretty regional, and not super famous even in the rest of Canada. The Atlantic provinces, for instance, have a whole bunch of strange stuff. Like Dulse:
