Thanks for starting to work on this.  I have this book as well.  Another way to play that Four Corners game, is to make the answer the danger zone and if students are there, they are out.  I usually did this for a larger class size.   :cheesy:

For the teachers who were unable to download from the website. I have have just attached the Teachers Textbook above (only Lesson 1). Here are the lesson plans for Lesson 1 (4 Parts). The first part also has a summary outline of the lesson. Hope this helps.

Any chance you could supply that link to this mythical website?  I couldn't find it anywhere.  Was there one for the 4th grade book as well?

Here's my initial take on it.
Being that I cannot find the website and download either screen-shots of the characters in the book or outright pictures of them, I kind of used other things from the chapter.

1st is a greeting.  I figure I can quickly greet each student in the class, and mid way through they'll all be able to follow the format, going quicker.

Then it's onto some of the vocab items from the book:
What is that? It's an / a  _______.
Who is he/she?  He / She is ______.

Then a few quick role plays (it's written out on the slides and if they can, they can read it.  It's something to work on in greater detail if they cannot or haven't picked up the routine yet.

Lastly are going through the alphabet a few times (normal, high voice, low voice, whisper, whatever...silly voice - have fun)

And then some self explanatory alphabet games to do on the black board / white board in teams.  The book only went to F, but why not charge forward?

Hope you can use them.

***I screwed up on slide 18 and put Cinderella's name instead of Snow White.  I also fixed the timing on that particular slide.  I *think everything else is okay, but as usual, take a look-see before you use it.***  (So here's the amended version)

I copied and pasted the link but it looks a little strange so I don't know if it is going to work. You need an ID and password to sign in. My co-teacher was kind enough and gave me hers to sign in. You can also download the CD on the right hand side of the screen under Quick Menu. Oh, and I posted the Teacher's Book and Lesson Plans for Grade 4 as well. You can find it if you go to Grade 4 and look for the new book. Lesson 1 - My name is Bora.

What is the link for finding the lessons my coteacher is needing the Teachers edition for another school which leaves me sort of in the lurch. The CDs don't work on my computer.

Here's a Monsters Inc. game for Period 1. It mostly just focuses on target language repetition and learning the character names. Thanks to both the template creator and BX for those clipped character images. Two of the slides have me on them, so you should probably replace those with pictures of you or something else of your choosing.

This is for the first lesson of the book.

First the students meet the characters, and then the characters meet each other (this is when the students can practice the dialogue including the names they just learned).

The characters all meet each other in different places, which adds a little interest to a simple topic.

The key expressions for this lesson are "Hi / Hello", "I'm ___", and "Bye".  We went ahead and included "nice to meet you" for a more natural back and forth.

I designed the dialogue part according to my co-teacher's instructions.  Since it's 3rd grade, we didn't include word balloons.  The class will speak for the characters -- when it's one character's turn to speak, a number appears over their head, and the character wiggles.  If you want to remove the numbers, the wiggling is probably quite sufficient.

Here's the dialogue we used, but as long as each character says three things, you can choose any dialogue with no editing, because there are no word balloons:

1)  A: Hi, I'm ____.
2)  B: Hello, I'm ____.
3)  A: Nice to meet you.
4)  B: Nice to meet you, too.
5)  A: Bye.
6)  B: Bye.

I've done this in the past during introductory lessons. Teach this simple song and pass around a ball. Whoever ends up with the ball after the song must say his/her name. The rest of the students say "Nice to meet you". Really simple, just the way I like it for the little ones.

Rock Paper Scissors Game

Find your partner Game (Taken from another user on this site and modified a bit--it targets the 4th grade key expressions so that will need to be changed for 3rd grade.)

Both games would be suitable for the second class.

Taken from another area of waygook and changed a little but it's a good replacement for "talk together" on lesson 2.

Lesson plan for 3.1.1

Lesson includes:
video, speaking practice, textbook listen & do, textbook chant, textbook listen & play

Notes:
no prepwork
refer back to textbook P8 if you forget the characters' names mid-class
I also suggest getting the students to hand their cards in to you instead of throwing them out: never know what card game you can make with them down the line.

Here's a double sided worksheet. I think my kids are pretty low but they should be able to handle this. Also, about the wheel spinning game, maybe it's just cause I'm running open office, but I can't get it to spin. Is there a special place to click? I'll see on Monday if it works on my classroom computer!

An introductory lesson for my 3rd graders- includes greetings, days of the week, month, weather, rules, etc. I played a simple game for first period, should be straightforward. Hope this helps someone out!
