Simple Cheat / Bull-sht card game to play.

I used the cards at the back of the textbook (pg 199), in groups of 4 mix all the cards together and then deal, the students have to play the cards in order (Monday > Tuesday > etc). If they don't have the required card in their hand they have to cheat (lie) or pick up all the cards in the centre. They can be called out as a cheat if another player thinks they are cheating, they then have to pick up all the cards. However if someone incorrectly calls 'cheat' that person has to pick up all the cards. The first student to lose all their cards wins.

Hopefully the ppt is easy to understand. I usually leave the last slide showing while students are playing so the lower-level students don't struggle. You can also use this game for months of the year, numbers, time etc (basically anything that follows a sequence)

Pass the ball game for Period 1. This is a simple game for students who don't know the days of the week at all. I taught them a days of the week song at the beginning of class (a chant with no other words but the days of the week. I can't really sing it for you...). I had them sing the song while passing the ball. When the song is finished, the student holding the ball has to stand up and say the day on the screen/answer the question. In the corner is a question mark with candy possibly hidden behind it. You can use it to spice up the game or play without it.

I edited a Bounce Back game someone else posted (thank you!) to fit this lesson and made instructions to show the students. Just print slide one for each group of four students.

Here's another revised version of the board game with 3 characters: Pikachu, Homer Simpson, Patrick Star (to be played on ppt, I divided my classes of 30 into 3 teams).

I just moved the characters around using my mouse.  Students practice saying "It's Monday, Tuesday, etc..."

Perfect for a class with lower level students or if they look really tired/disinterested.  Not ideal if your class has a lot of advanced students because it's way too simple.

Revised version of the original "What day is it?" introduction ppt, in OP's post.

It's very simple, gets the kids to practice saying days of the week.

I used pictures/gifs from Spongebob, Pokemon and the Simpsons.

Two listening games here in the PPT for period 1:

Game 1) Print slides one and two for each group of four. Then cut them in half so each student in the group gets three schedules. I'll pretend I'm one of the people and tell three activities that I do and what day I do it. "I _____ on (day of the week)" They then need to quickly look at their schedules and write the correct person on their small team whiteboard to get a point.

Game 2) Print slide 3 and give each student a schedule. It's an individual game. They put ten circles anywhere on their schedules. Then one by one I call out "I ____ on (day of the week)" and they put an X in that box. First student to have all of their circles crossed out, or the most crossed out when time is up, wins.

Period 1 and 3:

Period 1 - Learn new vocab/phrases, explain and use fun (Korean) mnemonics to help memorize, look and listen video, check video comprehension, Listen and Repeat and finally a game. I used dlhope's idea and called it cheater (originally bullsh!t). And my version of how to play using the characters in the book.

Period 3:
Do the obligatory textbook for practice.
Then writing practice: the book exercises and then copying their self-study guide sentences in their notebooks. (My students are really low level and they *REALLY* need all the writing practice they can get.)
Finally, a game (I usually tell them when they finish they can play the game, otherwise they couldn't care less about writing during the period, plus the empty chatter can be avoided once some students have finished... because they'll be playing the game! The game this lesson is Connect Four. Be careful when explaining because sometimes the students just assume it's omok and draw the circles anywhere... ㅋㅋㅋ

Here's a reading game you could play individually, in partners or groups. I'm opting to give each of my students a printout of slide one. I'll be printing and hanging each schedule from slides two and three around the classroom. They'll walk around and figure out which name the sentences match with. First one to finish all and unscramble the secret bold boxed letters to make a word (crayon) at the bottom wins. If you want them to stay in their seats you could just give slides two and three to each partner set/group.

Make sure to let them know some names are only three letters long so will have an empty box at the end. Also, some names are used more than once.
