An alternate Pass the Ball template. I'm... I'm not sure if I want my name associated with this PPT so I'll discreetly pop it up here, but I showed one student the pop tart internet meme video on Youtube, they loved it and this is my response. Nyan.

Eep, embedding failure. Fixed now.

I just created a Doraemon Bomb Game.  It's my first game that I've created.  If you find any bugs, please let me know.  I hope you enjoy it and please leave me feedback.

I think I solved the problem of the text dropping out on the selection screen (just re-sized it).  I didn't have the problem on my school computer (Office 2003), but I did notice at home on 2007.

Anyways, here it is.

Here is a version with no music.  The file size is smaller.  (But come on, you know you want the original with music ;)).

This is a school days game I made a while back. Works pretty good. Has fifty-two question a bonus round and a scoreboard.
Also here is a mystery box game that I turned into a bomb game. The original game a bit different. Hope you enjoy.

Here's a Hidden Pictures (Guess the Picture) game I've been working on.

Click (almost) anywhere on the screen to make one of the concealing panels disappear, or click on the "clear" button once the students have guessed the answer to remove all of the panels at once and reveal the hidden picture.  There are eight slides.  Add your own pictures to suit any lesson with visual vocabulary.

Instructions for editing and use are included at the end of the presentation.

Attached is the silent version.  For those who like sounds, I'll add one with sound effects when I've had the time to make it.

Pikachu (Volleyball) Bomb Came
« Reply #88 on: June 20, 2011, 09:28:53 am »
Hi

My students (last year and this years) love Pikachu Volleyball, a really old and basic game (google it, you'll find it). So since they loved Mario so much, I decided to try my hand at making a Bomb Game myself. Definitely makes the standard quizzes much more interesting (I've found even just theming the slides to Starcraft is enough, let alone an involved 'Bomb Game' style quiz)

I tried to keep with the theme of Pikachu Volleyball (which is where the first slide was inspired from, I was trying to mimic the Korean game starting, because my kids will get so hyped when they see the familiar logo and background fade in), but didn't mind throwing in some general Pikachu/Pokemon ideas as well.

I am not so happy with my PowerPoint Custom Animation work on the 'volleyball Asleep at the Keyboard' slide, so if anyone wants to try and fix that and make it awesome/better, I'd love that!

Anyway, hope you like it, and let me know if you find any problems (I've had sooooo many little things go wrong. But it seems to be okay and able to be a standalone file with all the things embedded).

James Bond Game
« Reply #90 on: July 01, 2011, 01:07:04 pm »
I've put together a James Bond themed game following a simple question/answer principle.

Guide:
- Simply fill-in the empty text boxes in the answer slides with your question (top) and answer (bottom). Images can be placed between them.
- Click anywhere in the slide to reveal the answer.
- Click once more to move onto the points slide (the next slide).
- Click the red bar at the bottom of this slide to return to the main menu.
- To change points awarded, simply swap the points slides around, making sure that all changes are like for like (i.e. the question slide, answer slide, question slide, answer slide, etc.) format is maintained.

Feel free to make amendments as you see fit. Please share any re-worked versions that are improvements.

Personally, I would suggest this game is for 6th grade elementary kids and older, but use your discretion.

Hope your kids enjoy it!

Mission Impossible Unscramble Game.
« Reply #91 on: July 01, 2011, 01:36:47 pm »
Here's a simple Mission Impossible themed unscramble game I found worked well for grades 4-6. I cobbled a few elements from another unscramble ppt. and changed the theme.

The timing of each slide can be seen in the bottom right-hand corner of each slide. The scrambled word goes in the top text box, the unscrambled 'answer' in the bottom text box.

Hope it works for you!

FIFA 11: English World Cup (30Q *Soccer* Bomb Game Template)
« Reply #92 on: July 18, 2011, 10:40:14 am »
Originally inspired by Daejon's soccer game, here is a 30Q "bomb" soccer/football game themed around EA Sports' FIFA 11 and FIFA Manager 11, featuring Park Ji-Sung. I say "bomb" in quotation marks because I couldn't quite fit the idea of a "bomb" into a soccer game...

As before, place your questions in the blank slides. If a team gets a "take a shot", they move to another screen where they can choose one of three places where they can "hit the ball" into the net (and either score a goal, have the ball blocked, or miss the net); the idea for this was shamelessly stolen from the New Super Mario Brothers Classroom Blast bomb game made by Jennifer Yong.

As with my other baseball game, I've uploaded this as a .ppt and a .pptx; as a warning, I have used a lot of custom fonts (I should hasten to add that these were fonts included with my install of Office:Mac 2011), and some animations unique to newer versions of PowerPoint, so beware of font spacing, minor formatting, and animation issues. I hope you find this useful! If you find any bugs, feel free to let me know!

EDIT: At the request of a friend, I've also put up a second version, which is a slightly tweaked and revised version of the soccer template, reworked to a 30Q format.

Yeah sorry about that, here it is. Not the greatest but I hope it helps.

I'm not sure how this game works? Every time I click on the star after the students are supposed to give their answers, it goes back to the home slide, but then every letter I click, it goes to the same slide ... ?
May as well enjoy the pain that you cannot avoid. - Korean proverb

Here's a slightly new version of a Bomb Game. I call it "Flick Racer". The point of this is, instead of gaining points, to flick an object around a track made on some tables in the front. The team who gets the farthest before class is over wins!

(Idea originally shown here: http://www.eslcafe.com/idea/index.cgi?display:1044336289-13423.txt )

What you will need:
This powerpoint (with appropriate changes for your class),
Three or more tiny easily flickable objects (I used board magnets),
One or two tables placed in the front with some distinguishing marks to note a "start",
Books, boxes, etc. to place on the tables such that the perimeter of the table is a track, and
Small objects, such as erasers, to use as "road blocks".

What you do:
Play as a normal bomb-style game. The only difference is that when a team answers a question correctly, they get an appropriate number of flicks on their object. Should their object fall off the table, they return to start. I recommend making checkpoints or save points at various places as well, so that if they fall off after there, they can return to a save point. If a team gets a road block (the noted white board erasers worked rather well), that team must place their road block before flicking, if they have any flicks. Change icons can be either direct--specifically the two colors shown change, or can be more free.

I was a little strict with what counts as a flick. I enforced that the player had to either use their index or middle finger and could not simply "push" their object. In the 8 classes that I've tested this on, it has taken about 5 minutes to explain the game and get it started, but it keeps kids' attention for as long as it's being played. For my 6th grade 1st semester review (which this version was made for), even in intense heat, the kids stayed into it the full 30 minutes we played. It's a great success!

My kids really like the Spy vs Spy game.  But sometimes all the already selected letters will reappear again.  Any idea why this is happening to me?

I made a Tic Tac Toe game.
Already posted the template elsewhere on this site, but I think it will probably get used more here so I'm posting it again.

Pretty easy to use. Just click a number box to take you to the question. Click "round 1" to take you back to the board and then click the X or O of the corresponding square to claim the spot.
There are 3 rounds but you could make more easily, just change the hyperlinks around after copy/pasting.

You could also just play it as regular tic tac toe, without questions by clicking the small X/O.

NBA2K11: The English Championships (30Q Basketball "Bomb" Game Template)
« Reply #97 on: September 26, 2011, 02:44:14 pm »
Wrapping up what I guess is my "Sports" Trilogy with my soccer and baseball templates is this basketball template, themed around 2K Sports' NBA2K11 while also featuring the Korean National Men's and Women's baskeball teams, as well as the teams of the KBL (NBA2K12 just came out, I think). It works just like the soccer and baseball games, for the most part. If you shoot the ball at the net, you can get either a Slam Dunk, a Three-Pointer, or you could miss. Oh, and the "Shoot The Ball" screens also feature a rudimentary NBA-style shot clock too.

EDIT (11-8-11) - I've uploaded a new version of this template which fixes some minor and moderate graphical bugs, as well as some hyperlink issues which I hope have been finally fixed. I've also reduced the PPI of the hi-res images I've used which should cut down on the file size too.

Some elements of this template work best with the font, Synchro LET Regular (for the scoreboard-style displays), which I've included in a .zip file.

Plants vs. Zombies - "Zombies Ate My Friends!"
« Reply #98 on: November 08, 2011, 12:00:49 pm »
Sure, everyone knows Angry Birds, but before Angry Birds there was an arguably much better and much more action-packed game: Plants vs. Zombies. This is a short-medium length sentence building game based on PopCap games' award winning tower defense title, with a "Get the Zombie" option.

The style of play is very simple; the students (or the teacher) choose a square. They then have to fill in the blanks of the key sentence using that square's corresponding row and column elements. Click on the square to see what reward they get for doing it. As an example, I've included pictures and words from the Gr. 5 Lesson 12 ("Can you tell me about your family?") key sentences. You are of course encouraged to add your own.

This PPT shows a picture of action words and the music is played on the background for students to write the answers on the whiteboard or on paper.
